"No, no, no" I heard Dylan scream from my side. His hand waa rested on her limp shoulder. "She can't be dead, she just can't" He shouted his denial at me; directing the words my way and no one elses. I shook my head, I could feel her life drain from.her body but by no means was she dead.
"Trust me, I'm not going to let her die" I looked him in the eye before returning to everyone else. Kyle and Lamim ran to me and looked at the body. I almost felt a tear prick in my eye. I took a deep breath to keep my emotions together. Jane walked over to me, looking too upset for what actually happened, and broughf her hand up. In a second her hand collided with my face, leaving a bright red mark where she hit me.
"That's what you get for bring that monster back" She yelled at me like I was the one in the wrong. Placing Kat's body gently on the floor I walked up to her. "You wouldn't hit me" She sneered. I laughed at her mistake; I clenched a fist and hit her square in the face, knocking off her awful glasses.
"You bitch, you're the one who left her and I am sorry if she couldn't save your girlfriend, but seriously Jane if anyone is the monster it's you" I spat in disgust. The tension around us was painful but I would have made it worse if I didn't hear such an unnerving sound. I turned around as the building collapsed, echoing the loud sound around the town. Groans could be heard from afar and I wasn't going to risk anything anymore.
I ran over to Kat and picked her up before adressing the group."We have to go, grab anything you can and follow me" I ordered in a serious tone to address our problem. We picked up supplies and ran, I don't know what direction but it didn't matter just as long as we stuck together. The groans and moans of the undead behind reminded me of the disaster that happened not even an hour ago. What was stuck in my mind was 'How did it start and spread so far?' It was clear by the damage that it started on the second floor. Kyle was with me so it left Kat, Nicole and Robin. I had no idea where she went or what she was doing but there was no one to stop her. Kat may have done such a thing in defence or accidently but never purposly try to burn an entire building down and finally Nicole; I.never really knew her that well and when she moved to New Zealand she could have changed.
I sighed heavily and Dylan caught onto my distress. "What's up Alan?" He smiled weakly at me; trying to cheer my mood up with his. It wouldn't work, other circumstances maybe but at the threat of losing a friend and one I care dearly for was no time to cheer up.
"The sky" I joked trying to cheer both him and I up but it only made the pain worse. That one phrase reminded me of her, whenever she'd ask me that question I would give her that answer only for her to roll her eyes at me.
"Seriously mate, what's up?" Dylan was always caring and I think that's why both Kat and him are friends. Everyone knew that she was an extremely private person; she would lie about how she felt just to evade the questions. I sighed in defeat and i was about to answer when I saw movement a head and it looked dangerous.
