“Come on break it up lovebirds” I rolled my eyes to see Lamim and Kyle laughing behind Dylan. I rolled my eyes and I saw Kat too. I looked down at her to see her facing in the opposite direction, hopefully.
“Are you alright to walk?” She bolted into reality, only realizing my question after a moment of silence. Her reaction was unsure but, she still nodded. I turned my arms so her feet were closer to the floor and letting go of her. She tried to walk but started to stumble and finally falling to the ground. I held in a laugh but it seemed that it didn’t stop someone. I didn’t see who but they carried on laughing. I looked eagerly around for the person to only find out it was just Kat. “You’re laughing?” I questioned the strange girl. I had known her five years and at no point had I seen her anything like this around Meg, Jane or Nicole. She seemed like a different person, nothing mattered to her but she still had her fears and kept them close.
“Right where is everybody else?” she questioned, happily. I shrug only to see them appearing over the horizon. “Oh” was all I heard from behind. I squinted my eyes and I watched their movements, they looked to be running. I furrowed my brow and I try to think of reasons to be running. “Oh shit” that can’t be good. “Run” I didn’t argue with her, she knows better than I do. I began to run and instantly overtook Kat. I looked around to see the others catching up quickly and Kat falling behind. I kept up a steady pace, constantly checking up on Kat. I saw her face and it was one of pain, blood started to leak through her thin top and. I stopped and turned back, just to keep her safe. I can’t believe I was doing this, risking my life to save hers. I rammed through to confused, shocked and concerned people I knew and once again heard their words of displeasure. I didn’t care I just carried on running to reach the injured girl.
“Let’s go Kat” She shook her head and fell to the ground. One hand wrapped across her chest to stop the blood flowing.
“Go on a head, death really seems to want me” She joked in a serious tone. I shook my head and peered up to see the hoard closing in on us. I didn’t think, I just acted; scooping the defenceless teen into my arms and sprinting. “What are you doing?” She yelled at me, trying to struggle in my grips but falling back in pain. “You are clearly insane” She called out. I shrugged, not caring at all if she called me insane.
“Well looks who’s talking” I replied. She was speechless but then shrugged her shoulders much like I did. It wasn’t long before I had caught up with a few of the other members of the group. I looked around for somewhere to hide out until the hoard leaves. “Hey guys, there’s a building over there, it looks secure, why don’t we hide out in there” They nodded in approval and we headed to the building hoping that the zombies wouldn’t follow. We silently closed the door and ran up the stairs until we reached a reasonable height that was safe from the zombies and easy to escape from. I led Kat down on an old desk, which obviously was unoccupied, and tried to help her with her wounds.
“Get off me” She yelled before slapping my hand away from her. I could see the pain she tried to hide but it didn’t work, she was trying to be strong for what reason, I would never understand. To be truthful I would never understand her, never at all in this life. I don’t even think she knows. Her legs swung over the edge of the desk, still with one hand over her injury.
“Seriously, I’m trying to help you and you push me away? I just saved you, twice and you are ignoring help, what is up with you?” I argued with her. Arguing with Kat was pointless she would never change side without a valid reason. Worst of all even if her point is wrong she can win, not matter how good your evidence/ argument, be prepared to lose.
“I wasn’t, you just barge in to save the day to try and impress me” She shouts at me, I felt something bad coming on.
“Impress you? Why would I want to impress you?” I questioned her statement.
“Oh don’t act like you don’t know” he shouted, jumping off of the wooden desk. And walking over to where I stood, anger flashing in her once calm eyes.
“Oh right, yeah. That was four years ago, I’m over you” I yell; she just rolled her eyes, I could tell there was something she wanted to say but just couldn’t. “Oh what?” I yelled.
“Oh nothing, except the fact you told me this all the time and each time you would ask me out again, you clearly weren’t over me” she calls at me, this was annoying me.
“Oh really, how would you know, you’ve been ignoring me for the last four years, I have changed you know” she shook her head, I disagreement and In disgust.
“No you haven’t you are still the same, you will never change, no matter what you say, or how you act” Now everyone else had caught onto the danger of the situation. I wanted to hit her, so she would just stop yelling but even I couldn’t do that.
“I can see it in your eyes” she spat at me, pushing a finger at my chest. “I thought you were different but I was wrong you, you…” She turned around to face the other way; pulling at her hair with her hands.
“You thought what?” I was hoping to get something out of this, just to understand why she ignored me for all these years. “You know what, I don’t care what you think”
“Why don’t you just leave me alone for once, hey?” She retorted; I raised an eyebrow. “Why don’t you ever leave me alone, I ignore you for four years and you still want me? Why I am nothing special? I have my faults and flaws and I won’t lie I try and hide them, why do you think I’m so quiet?” I really didn’t know what to say, I don’t think I’ve ever really see her this angry, or speak so truthfully.
