Lauren didn't sleep much at all that night. She would start to drift off into sleep, and remember Camila, then would be wide awake again.
It wasn't until about thirty minutes before her alarm went off when she finally shut her eyes. It seemed like only seconds until her alarm jolted her awake.
Lauren slammed her fist down on to the alarm, making it stop. She groaned, getting up out of bed and going to shower, hopefully to wake her up some.
The shower didn't work wonders however, and if possible, it made Lauren more tired. She didn't give a crap today, as she wore sweatpants and a tank top, pulling her hair into a messy bun.
"Good morning mija, are you feeling better?" Her mom asked her once she was downstairs.
"I guess," Lauren replied, yawning and grabbing her favorite cereal from the pantry.
"You have bags under your eyes Lauren," her mom pointed out, a hint of worry in her voice.
"I guess I didn't sleep that well," she replied, yawning again, putting the cereal in her mouth. Her mom sighed and gave up on trying to converse further.
Lauren finished quickly, running back upstairs to hastily apply some concealer to the bags under her eyes.
"Holy shit," she muttered once she saw how bad she actually looked. The bags under her eyes were much worse than she anticipated. Her eyes were grey compared to the usual green.
It took a lot of concealer, but Lauren finally made the bags look somewhat normal.
"Lauren come on!" Yelled Chris from down stairs. She sighed and made her way downstairs, slipping on her moccasins and grabbing her bag.
The car ride was silent, as Lauren barely managed to stay awake at the wheel. Her siblings left the car in a hurry, sensing Lauren's tiredness.
"Lauren you look like you haven't slept in a week," said Ally once she met up with her friends in the hall. Lauren shrugged and yawned.
"Do you guys know where Dinah is? I didn't see her come in yet," said Normani.
"No," Ally and Lauren said in unison. As if on cue, Dinah came sprinting down the hall, coming to an abrupt stop when she reached them.
"Sorry...I...overslept...and....I missed...breakfast," she panted.
"Well Lauen looks to have under slept," laughed Normani. Lauren yawned in response.
"Holy shit Laur did you not sleep at all?" Dinah said, finally noticing Lauren.
"I got a good half hour," she said shrugging again. Ally, who was taking a drink from her water, nearly choked at what Lauren said.
"You only slept for thirty minutes? Lauren, that's not healthy," she said once she could talk again.
"Eh," was all Lauren said. Ally sighed and shook her head.
"Where's Camila?" Said Normani.
"Boy you sure seem to be asking all the questions," Lauren said. Suddenly, Lauren felt a pair of hands grab her waist. She screamed and turned around to be met face to face with a laughing Camila.
"I found her," said Dinah laughing, and Lauren punched her arm playfully.
"Woah Lauren, you look exhausted," said Camila, noticing the bags under Lauren's eyes.
"I,uh, didn't sleep too well," she said, suddenly flustered. She remembered all her confessions from the night before and her heart started to race
"She only slept for a half hour," pointed out Ally, making Lauren roll her eyes.
"Lauren, whatever was keeping you up must have been pretty serious if you were up all night," said Camila cautiously.
"You have no idea," muttered Lauren, almost laughing to herself.
"I think you need coffee or caffeine or something to keep you awake," Dinah said to Lauren.
"Guys it's really not that big of a-" Lauren started, but was cut off by a yawn.
"Uh huh, sure it isn't," Normani said laughing.
"So about lunch yesterday," said Dinah.
"Dinah!" Shouted Ally, punching her in the arm.
"Ow, Jesus Ally that hurt! For someone so small you have a lot of power," Dinah said rubbing her shoulder. Ally just glared at her.
"Oh yeah, Zack and I broke up," said Lauren casually.
"What?" The four other girls said in unison, making Lauren.
"Yeah but I was just upset about what he told me than the actual breakup," Lauren replied.
"Laur, are you sure you're ok after that?" Said Normani, concerned. Lauren nodded, but it didn't stop Normani from giving her a hug anyway.
"He can't hurt my little Lauren, you're so much stronger than him," said Normani, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks Mani," Lauren laughed. The bell rang, signaling them to get to home room.
"Bye guys, see you later," Lauren said, waking away, only to find Camila following her.
"Oh! Uh, hi, Camila," Lauren said suddenly shy.
"We have home room together, remember?" Camila questioned. Lauren nodded and kept on walking.
Once in home room, she took her usual spot near the window and took out her phone, too tired to do anything else.
"Lauren, are you sure you're ok?" Said a voice that Lauren recognized to be Camila's.
"Well, no, considering that I'm running on thirty minutes of sleep," said Lauren, putting her phone down.
"What kept you awake for that long?" Said Camila.
"Jesus, Camila likes asking questions," thought Lauren, rubbing her eyes.
"Um, it was nothing," she said, starting to feel nervous.
"I may have just met you yesterday, but I'm not stupid. I know something must have been really serious to keep you awake," said Camila seriously.
"Ok, I admit that it was something pretty fucking serious, but I will not say what it was," said Lauren with a sigh.
"Ok, I'll leave it at that then," said Camila. Lauren started to get uncomfortable when Camila stayed staring at her.
"Uh, Camila, you're staring," said Lauren nervously.
"Your eyes are so interesting. Like, they change color. Yesterday they were green and today they're, unfortunately, grey," said Camila with a hint of a smile on her lips.
"Yeah, they change based on my emotions, I guess," Lauren explained.
"My eyes are just boring old brown."
"I don't think so. I think your eyes are beautiful and unique," said Lauren, her own words surprising her.
"Thanks Lauren," Camila said, smiling. Lauren nodded and stared out the window, still in a daze of tiredness. She was instantly shaken out of her trance when Camila leaned up and planted a kiss on her cheek for the second time.
Lauren reached up and delicately touched the spot where Camila's lips had just been.
"What was that for?" Said Lauren, still in shock.
"You're nice to me, so I showed you affection," giggled Camila. Lauren's stomach erupted into butterflies with that sound.
She groaned though, as she saw Zach making his way over to her.
"You want to make him jealous?" Camila whispered.
"By doing what?" Said Lauren, her heart racing.
"Kiss me." Those two words made Lauren forget how to breathe.
"What? Camila, are you sure?" She said nervously.
"Yes. We're friends, I'm helping you out, so just kiss me already," said Camila, glancing at a rapidly approaching Zach. Lauren sighed and leaned in.
When their lips met, Lauren felt sparks. Her heart raced as her lips moved in rhythm with Camila's. She tasted sweet and her lips were soft. She felt passion, nothing like when other guys had kissed her.
Out of the corner of her eye, Lauren saw Zach stop in his tracks, suddenly flustered. He turned on his heels and quickly walked back to his seat.
Camila pulled back, ending Lauren's paradise. She reached up to touch her swollen lips.
"See? No big deal," said Camila, pulling out her phone.
"Yeah, no big deal," said Lauren under her breath.|a/n: wow. interesting chapter. hope you enjoyed it...
