Three months. It had been three months since Lauren was scheduled to come out to her friends. She instantly regretted calling them over once she hung up the phone after calling Dinah. Lauren made herself so nervous that she got sick to her stomach.
The three others arrived to Lauren's house to find her heaving into the toilet. Lauren then refused to tell them what she was going to and missed school for three days.
After that, the incident was not spoken of. Camila started dating a red head named Nicole, which made Lauren feel angry and annoyed. Camila came out to the other girls with ease, and they accepted her.
"Lauren. Hello? Laur. LAUREN!" Dinah screamed, jolting Lauren out of her reminiscing. She realized that she was back into the school hallways, waiting for class to start.
"Sorry. I got caught up in my thoughts again," she mumbled, looking down at the floor.
"Ugh, school is torturous," sighed Normani.
"At least it's Pizza Friday," pointed out the smallest girl. Pizza Friday was their weekly gathering. They all went to one of the girl's house to watch movies, eat pizza, and just talk.
"Oh yeah," said Lauren brightening up a bit. Lauren enjoyed Pizza Friday, mainly because Camila would snuggle up next to her during the movies. Camila didn't know it drove Lauren crazy.
As Lauren thought about Camila, she appeared in real life, followed by none other than Nicole. Lauren was instantly down again.
"Hey guys," she said and adjusted the bag on her shoulder. They all said their greetings to the two other girls.
"Who's house are we going to tonight?" Dinah asked.
"For what?" Camila questioned, obviously clueless.
"Mila, it's Pizza Friday," Dinah said laughing. She blushed once she realized it.
"She's so cute when she's embarrassed," thought Lauren.
"I think we're going to Lauren's house," Normani said, answering Dinah's question. Lauren nodded. Ally noticed how Lauren's expression faltered when Nicole appeared, and knew something was up.
The bell rang , signaling them to get to home room. Nicole gave Camila a quick peck on the lips, leaving Lauren with an empty feeling in her stomach.
She hurried on her way to homeroom and away from Camila. Lauren didn't walk fast enough because Camila appeared by her side within seconds.
"Hey Lolo, you excited for Pizza Friday?" Camila asked innocently.
"Yup," Lauren said, looking straight ahead.
"Lo, I know when something is wrong, and clearly something is," Camila said, worriedly.
"It's...nothing," sighed Lauren. Camila frowned. she knew Lauren was lying.
"How many hours of sleep did you get this time?" Camila asked. Lauren held up one finger in response.
"Lauren Michelle Jauregui! That is not enough sleep!" Camila scolded, giving Lauren a slap on the arm.
"I know, I'm trying to work on it," Lauren sighed. Camila didn't know that she was the reason Lauren was awake all night. They made it to homeroom with a lot of time to spare.
Meanwhile, the other three girls sat in their homeroom. They were deep in conversation.
"I think there is something wrong with Lauren," Ally said.
"Why do you think something is wrong?" Normani replied.
"A, the girl is lucky to get four hours of sleep, B, she is always lost in her thoughts, and C, she used to be a straight A student, and now she has a C in practically every class," Ally listed, her voice riddled with concern.
The unfortunate thing was that it was all true. Lauren barely slept, was always distracted by her own thoughts, and had started to flunk almost every class ever since she had thought about being gay.
"I see your point, but isn't that, like, exactly what I do?" Dinah said obliviously, making Ally sigh.
"Dinah, you oversleep every day. In fact, you're lucky to make it to any of your classes. You aren't lost in your thoughts, you're just unaware of everything. You are somehow passing your classes. Does that sound anything like Lauren?" Ally questioned. Dinah thought for a minute before shaking her head.
"I think I know what's going on," Normani said with a smile. The other two looked at her expectantly.
"Laur has a crush!" Normani exclaimed enthusiastically.
"Huh?" Ally and Dinah said at the same time.
"She totally does. I've had the same feeling before. It's the kind of crush where you can't sleep at night because they're always in your mind, you can't function right when you see them, they instantly make your day brighter. Lauren has it bad," Normani said giggling.
"I think you're right Mani, for once," Dinah said. Normani slapped Dinah on the arm.
"Will you guys stop hurting me? I'm not even doing anything to you," Dinah said, rubbing her arm tenderly. The two other girls ignored her request.
"We can't just leave her with this huge weight on her shoulders, she's got to tell someone," said Ally. Normani nodded and furrowed her eyebrows.
"We should make her tell us tonight, like playing truth or dare and asking her if she has a crush," suggested Normani. They all agreed and coudn't wait for the end of the end of the day.
