I lay on my side with my body pressed against Tyler's. He sleeps in his boxers and I sleep in an over-sized t-shirt and panties. It's almost one in the morning when I get this weird feeling. The sheets beneath me feel damp and my heart begins racing. My hand immediately covers my stomach as I carefully sit up and turn on the bedside lamp. I push the blankets away to find the white sheet now covered in dark red blood. Oh my! A sob escapes my lips and Tyler rolls over. "What is it?"

"Tyler, I need to go to the hospital." I say with a shaking voice.

He sits up immediately and looks at me, his eyes falling to the sheets. "Oh my god." He breathes.

"Get dressed." I say.

Grabbing my phone I call Steven. "Hello?" He answers tiredly.

"Tyler is taking me to the hospital. Can you watch Alex?"

I hear movement in the background. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"I really need you here." I sniffle.

"Of course. I'll be there soon."

He hangs up and I swing my legs over the side of the bed. I stand up and blood drips down legs. I try not to cry but it's impossible not to. Tyler helps me into pajama pants then picks me up like a baby. I cry into the crook of his neck and wrap my arms around him tightly.

Is the baby okay? Was it something I did? Please let the baby be okay, I silently beg.

He carries me downstairs where I hear Steven. "What happened?" He asks.

"She woke me up and there was blood." Tyler says, his voice strained. "There was so much blood." He whispers.

"I'll watch Alex. Do you want me to call her mom?"

Tyler doesn't respond but he begins putting me in the car. Once he gets in, he rushes me to the hospital.

The nurses rush to Mia as soon as we get into the hospital. I put her into the wheelchair and they take her away. I try to follow but a nurse holds me back. "She needs help. Let us give it to her."

"She's pregnant with my baby." I say breathlessly. "I need to make sure she's okay."

She takes a deep breath. "You'd only be in the way back there. Just wait out here and I'll let you know what's happening as soon as I can. In the meantime, you should probably get a hold of her family."

I nod reluctantly before walking to the waiting room and dropping into a chair. Was it something I did? Did I hurt her somehow? Was it the sex?

So many possibilities roam throughout my mind. Dragging my phone out of my pocket, I call her parents house. I tell them that Mia is in the hospital and they tell me they'll be here soon. I hang up then slouch down in the chair.

It seems like hours pass before Mia's parents get there. The worried looks on their faces makes my chest ache even more. "What happened?" Her mother asks, her voice edged with concern.

My lips part but no words come out. Her parents don't know she's pregnant. "I don't know." I say softly.

I can tell she has more to say but she purses her lips and sits down. Her husband sits beside her and begins rubbing her back. If anything were to happen to her or the baby, I'd spend the rest of my life feeling like shit. I wouldn't be able to control my feelings.

It's about four o'clock in the morning when the nurse from earlier returns. She sits on the coffee table in front of me and stares at me for a long moment before talking. "How are you holding up?" She asks.

I shrug. "How is she? Is she okay?"

She smiles. "I think she'll be okay. She's been asleep but I think she'll be waking up soon. I'll walk you to her room."

Mia's parents ask questions but I rush to Mia's room, ignoring their words. Mia lays on the hospital bed in a night gown and I furrow my eyebrows. "What happened to her?" I ask.

"The doctor will explain everything to all of you once she wakes up. Until then, make yourselves comfortable."

She leaves the room and I kick off my shoes then hold up the blankets covering Mia. I climb into bed carefully, making sure not to touch her. It isn't long before I drift off into a deep sleep.

Cold fingertips run along my jawline and my eyes pop open. Mia stares down at me impassively. I move my hand up to her stomach and lightly touch her baby bump. "Are you okay?" I whisper.

"I don't know." Looking behind me, she speaks. "Will you two get the doctor? I'm gonna use the restroom."

"I'll help you into the bathroom." Her mother offers quickly.

"Tyler will. Get the doctor please."

After a long moment, the door opens and closes. I stand up and hold out my hand, helping her into the bathroom. She sits on the toilet then looks at me awkwardly. "I'll let you know when I'm done."

I frown. "I am not leaving you alone."

She sighs. "I can't pee with you in here."

"Fine. I'll go with you."

She raises her eyebrows as she watches me unbutton and unzip my jeans. I piss in the sink and she laughs, shaking her head. "That's disgusting."

I shrug. We finish up in the bathroom then go sit on the bed. The doctor and her parents return to the room. "How are you feeling?" The doctor asks Mia.

"Fine. What's wrong with me?" She asks, getting to the point.

He smiles. "Nothing. You and the baby are both okay right now."

Mia's mother gasps. "You're pregnant?" Her father asks.

"Surprise." She smiles sheepishly.

"One in three women experience bleeding during their first trimester. Sometimes their is no cause. Other times it can be caused by change in hormone levels or sexual intercourse. If you continue bleeding, it can be a sign of miscarriage. So I am going to put you on bed rest for a week then make an appointment with your regular doctor."

"Thank you." Mia says.

The doctor leaves the room and we stare at each other for a long moment. "You're staying with me." Her mother says.

I furrow my eyebrows. "I can take care of her."

"You don't know a thing about taking care of a pregnant woman." She snaps.

"Mom, I'm staying at home. Tyler and Steven will be there for me if I need anything."
