Tyler grabs my hand and pulls me outside. I have to jog to keep up with his large steps. He opens his truck door and let's go of my hand to pick me up and place me in the truck. Closing the door, he walks around the truck and climbs in. "Tyler, what are you doing? We can't just leave the kids with your parents without asking if it's okay."
Leaning back, he stares out the windshield and takes a deep breath. "I asked them to watch them. They said they would."
I turn my body towards him. "What's going on, Ty? You're acting crazy."
"I did something impulsively and I'm hoping you won't be mad at me." He says softly, still looking out the windshield.
"Okay." I say slowly. "Tell me so we can figure it out together."
He shakes his head. "You have to see it first."
Reaching past me, he grabs my seat-belt and buckles me up. I notice the line on his forehead. He's worried. I wish he'd just tell me what it is. After buckling his seat-belt, he starts the engine and begins driving.
The only sound to be heard is the truck as we drive past my building out into the woods. A few miles past the diner and bar he makes a right down a dirt road. There are fields on either side of the dirt road. I notice a big tree located in the middle of the field on my side. It has big white flowers on it and green leaves. My grandma had one in her front yard before. It's a beautiful.
Glancing at Ty, I can see that he is still worried. I reach over and squeeze his hand. He forces a small smile on his lips before turning his eyes back to the road. When we reach a black wrought iron gate. Tyler stops the car and climbs out of the truck. Jogging over to the gate, he pushes each side open before returning to the truck.
He doesn't bother putting his seat-belt on and I begin getting nervous because I know we're getting close. There are trees on either side of the driveway, creating a beautiful view. The sun peaks through the leaves above us, dimly lighting the driveway. At the end of the line of trees there is a house.
My eyes widen and my jaw drops at the realization of why we're here.
It's a two-story house with a wraparound porch on the first floor. In the middle of the second floor, there are French doors that open up to a balcony. The roof is done with rounded orange clay tiles. The stucco walls are an off-white with beautiful windows placed around.
Climbing out of the truck, we head for the steps. On either side are rose bushes with a mixture of red and pink roses. Tyler grabs my hand and takes me through the French doors. There is a small table in the center of the first room with a metal bucket sitting on it. Inside it is a bottle of champagne sitting on ice.
Removing my hand from Tyler's, I grab the note beside the glasses. Tyler quickly pulls it from my hand and takes my chin gently between his thumb and pointer finger. "I bought it. I've been sitting on some money for a while now because I wanted to use it wisely. This opportunity came up and I took it."
"How much money?" I say softly.
"Enough." He says softly, lightly pressing a kiss to my lips. "My grandma left me and Steven everything when she passed away. So we sold everything - her car, house and everything in it - then split the money. Plus we had the money she had been saving for us since we were little. That alone could buy us each a car."
I frown. "I'm sorry I missed the funeral. I was so pissed at you when I left for college -"
"It's fine. I was an asshole." He chuckles softly. "My grandma made sure to tell me before she passed away. She loved you and knew I screwed up."
Smiling, I wrap my arms around him and hug him. "I loved your grandma. She was sweet." Pulling away I look up at him, keeping my arms loosely wrapped around his neck. "What changed that night?"
He furrows his eyebrows in confusion. "What night?"
"The night of your birthday party. What changed that made you want me?"
Biting his lip, he looks down before sighing. "Steven and I had made this rule after we both lost our virginity's. We were popular with the ladies so we could only choose one per night... Unless she had a friend that was willing too."
I glare at him. "Get to the point."
He chuckles softly. "Our rule was that each night, we'd take home the first girl that caught our attention. You caught my attention that night. I had never seen you dressed like that. It was sexy. And seeing you with that other guy pissed me off."
I smile. "You were jealous."
"Of course. You know, if I hadn't taken you home that night, you'd probably be with Steven right now."
I furrow my eyebrows. "Why would you say that?"
"Because he wanted you that night. He has had a crush on you since middle school when your ass and chest had gotten bigger." He smirks.
I smack his chest. "You're so mean. Isn't there like a guy code with dating your cousins crush?"
He shrugs. "I don't care. You and Steven had your chance. Tell me, would you have slept with him?"
I shake my head. "I don't think so. I've never liked him like that. He's sweet and all but you and I were always closer so it made it easier to like you."
He kisses me once more. "I love you."
"I love you too." I smile.
"Now let's go home and pack."
