I stand in the empty apartment looking around. When I first moved in here, it was just me and Alex. Now it's us, Addison and Tyler. A lot has changed but I'm happy. We got everything moved into the new house and tonight will be our first night staying there.
After the incident in Tyler's room, I got back on birth control. I wasn't exactly sexually active after Addison was born so I didn't need it at the time. My mom asked if she could keep the kids overnight because she knows we still have a lot of work to do. I plan on opening the bottle of champagne Matt got us.
After discussing it with Tyler, I decided to rent this place out. Steven has been looking for an apartment and jumped at the offer. Since he's like family I didn't make him put down a deposit or anything. Only first month's rent.
The front door opens and Steven walks in with a few boxes. I smile as I make my way over to him. "Here's the keys. Don't party too hard. There's businesses downstairs." I wink.
He laughs. "Got it. Thanks for this, Mia. I've been looking to settle down and this helped a lot."
"Settle down?" I ask. "Do you have a girlfriend?"
As if she had been waiting the whole time, a beautiful blonde girl steps inside of the apartment. She wears a navy blue dress with matching heels. Her nails are all painted red and her makeup is one perfectly. She tucks a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and smiles. "I'm Alexis. You must be Mia."
"Nice to meet you." I say, shaking her hand.
"Alexis has been begging me to let her meet the family so I thought I'd have dinner here once we got settled in." Steven says smiling at Alexis.
"Do they even know she exists?" I ask curiously.
Alexis rolls her eyes. "They know he's seeing someone but they know nothing about me. I told him they're gonna take it out on me but he won't listen."
I chuckle. "His family is a little crazy but they're all sweet."
She smiles gratefully. "Good to know. I have all of these crazy scenarios in my head on how dinner will go. At first I thought they'd eat me alive but this put me at ease."
I smile at her. "You look great by the way."
She grins. "Thank you. You do to."
I glance down at my jeans and t-shirt chuckling. "No need to lie. I should get home and start unpacking. It was nice meeting you."
"You too."
Steven follows me to the front door. "So what do you think?"
"She's lovely." I smile. "Beautiful."
He breaths a sigh of relief. "I know, right?"
I nod. "You did good. If we become friends over the next couple of months I'd like her to be in the wedding. I don't really have any girl friends. A few cousins I guess but not bridesmaid material."
He smiles. "I'm glad you like her. I'll give her your number in case she ever wants to hangout."
"Okay. I'll see you soon."
I give him a hug before going to my car and heading home. The first things we brought over were all of the kids' things so their rooms are completely finished. All of our stuff is in our room but isn't put away. There are boxes lined against the wall containing our things. I've been trying to get the rest of the house done first because that's what people see when they walk in.
I walk through the first floor in search of Tyler but don't find him. When I get into the kitchen, I grab the bottle of champagne Matt got us along with two glasses. Carrying the bottle and glasses, I climb the stairs and go into our bedroom. The boxes are no longer in the room. The closet light is on and the door is open.
After placing the glasses on the dresser, I open the bottle of champagne and pour it into the glasses. Leaving the bottle on the dresser, I grab the glasses and go into the closet. Tyler stands up and smiles at me, wearing only a pair basketball shorts. "I thought I heard you."
He leans forward and pecks my lips before grabbing a glass from my hand. "Did you put everything away already?"
He drinks what's in his glass before leaning back against the wall and looking around the closet. "Yeah. I figured I'd put everything away for now and you could move if you didn't like it."
I glance around. "It looks great. If we hurry and complete the rest of the house, we can spend the rest of our time up here in bed."
He smiles. "There's not a lot to do. You've hardly slept the last few nights because you've been putting things away."
I nod. "That just means we'll get to bed sooner."
We both go downstairs and begin things away in the kitchen. The dining room is already done and most of the living room is. All we need to do in the living room is hook up the TV.
It's almost two in the morning when I'm putting the last thing away. I'm bent over, putting it away when Tyler's hands grip my hips. He presses himself against me and I stand up, turning around. "Take me to bed." I say softly.
I wrap my arms loosely around his neck and peck his lips. His hand slides down to my ass and he lifts me. My legs automatically wrap around his waist as he carry's me upstairs to our bedroom. When my head hits the pillow, I feel exhausted. Tyler lays beside me and kisses my forehead. "Get some sleep. You haven't had much lately."
I cuddle up to his side and close my eyes. "I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you."
"I love you." He whispers.
"I love you too."
