A guy in a suit takes our luggage and puts it on the plane. Alex jumps excitedly as we board the private jet. He has been excited ever since I told him we were riding on one. He woke up very early because he was so excited.

He watches out the window as the plane accelerates before leaving the ground. All of his excitement must have tired him out because he eventually falls asleep on the couch.

Tyler has his head laying back against the seat as he stares out the window. I crawl onto his lap and begin kissing his neck before nibbling on his ear. Smiling, he pulls away. "Did you break up with that douche yet or are you just teasing me?"

"I broke up with him two weeks ago." I smile. Leaning forward, I softly bite his ear. "I want to join the mile-high club."

He quickly stands up, making me laugh. Grabbing my hand, he begins leading me to the back of the plane where there is a bed. But before we get there we hear a voice. "Mom, can you lay with me?" Alex asks tiredly.

I glance at Tyler who makes a face then smiles. He scoops Alex up off the couch and carries him to the bedroom. He lays him in the center of the bed and we each lay on the side of him. We stay on our sides looking at each other while Alex falls asleep laying on his stomach. "Next time." Tyler whispers.

"Okay." I nod.

It's quiet for a long moment before he leans forward and kisses the tip of my nose. "Tell me about what happened with you and Dominic."

I look past him at the wall as I think about Dominic. He was something else. I tried so hard to make things work between us but it just didn't go anywhere. Both parties have to put in effort for a relationship to work. I did - he didn't. "When we first started seeing each other, he told me that his girlfriends always broke up with him because he works a lot. He's a mobile mechanic." I explain. "He'd leave very early in the morning and wouldn't be home until late. No matter how tired I was from watching the kids, I'd wait up for him on the couch. He'd take a quick shower and we'd go to bed. But we weren't intimate." I add quickly. "There was no time for that."

"You don't have to explain." He chuckles softly. "We're adults. We have sex."

It makes me wonder. Would it be wrong to ask him if he's been with anyone else while we've been apart? It's not like he'd be wrong or anything. We weren't together so he could be with whoever he wanted. My curiosity gets the best of me. "Have you been with anyone since me?"

He shakes his head. "You can ask about me after you finish telling me about Dominic."

I sigh before continuing. "After I dropped the kids off at your place, I went home and made dinner. I knew he didn't get home until plate so I had it ready by eight. He was almost two hours late from working on a truck." I say. "I was pissed off. We kept our distance and then you and I went to the bar."

He smiles. "This is my favorite part of the story. Keep going."

I chuckle. "When I told him I cheated, he didn't even care. He said he forgave me. I began bitching at him, as he put it, because that was definitely not a normal response. I mean, this guy was nice but weird. He forgave me immediately for cheating, he was gone at work twelve hours a day, and he wasn't close to his family." I shake my head. "He told me he worked so much because he was in debt from gambling. He got into some poker tournaments and owes some big bad guys a lot of money and he still goes to the casino." I say in exasperation. "So I told him he was putting me and my family in danger and made him leave. But I think there's more to his story."

He hums. "Hmm. Has anyone ever told you that you have very bad taste in men?"

I laugh. "That'd mean you too."

He looks down at Alex. "I'm a piece of shit."

The words sting. Those are the words I told him before I left for college. Look how far we've come since then. "You are not." I say softly. "We've both screwed up - especially me. But we need to put the past behind us and move forward. I've treated you like shit so many times and I can't take it back. I'm sorry."

A small smile plays on his lips. "Just look at the bright side... We can spend the rest of our lives having amazing make-up sex."

Grinning, I lean forward and kiss him.

When we land at San Francisco International Airport, there is a black SUV waiting for us. "2017 Audi Q7." Tyler murmurs. "Impressive."

The driver loads our bags into the back then drives us to Matt's family estate. The house looks like a mansion that should be in a history book. It's elegant design was made over a hundred years ago by his ancestors.

The driver continues down the long driveway past the house and stops beside the guest house. He helps take our bags in and tells us the family isn't home right now but asked for me to call them upon my arrival. When he leaves, I take both Alex's and Tyler's hands and lead them into the master bedroom. We go out onto the balcony where we see the sun setting just over the water out in the distance. I miss California but my life is back home. I leave the boys out on the balcony as I call Matt to let him know we've arrived.
