Running was all you could do. They were coming, you could hear their undead moans. They were a lot faster than most movies predicted, and that was not a good thing for you. You weren't the most athletic, and running was something you only every did to get to the nearest gym on Pokémon Go. But now that the world has been overrun by flesh-eating beasts, running is a thing that one got used to - if they were even still alive.

You managed to outrun them for what seemed like the third time that day, ducking into an abandoned apartment building while you were out of their sights. You ran up the stairs as silently as you could, your only weapon being your father's old revolver.

You had little ammo left, and your chances of survival were slim. You hadn't eaten in at least a day, and you hadn't seen a living human in...well, you didn't really remember. You guessed it would be the camp of zombie hunters back in Kansas, but you knew how long ago that was. You weren't in Kansas anymore.

You chuckled at your own joke, truly feeling how utterly alone you were. You climbed higher up the stairs, your calves practically screaming in pain. It took you quite some time to reach the top floor, and when you did, you did a double take through the window of the stairwell door. There were three people sitting in a circle. There was a hole in the ceiling, and a fire was stationed on the ground directly below it in a large stone pit. Three boys sat on sleeping bags, roasting what appeared to be hot dogs. One of them noticed you, reaching to his left and grabbing a shotgun, not hesitating to pull the trigger. You managed to duck before the bullet hit the window, but you got a few cuts from the glass. You didn't dare stand up, yelling at them from beyond the door.

"What the hell was that for?"

"Shit, sorry! I thought you might've been a zombie."

"I know I look like shit, but is it really that bad," you joked, standing up and dusting the glass off of your jacket. You unlocked the door through the window, entering with caution. You had no idea how these guys would react, and quite frankly, you weren't sure what they'd do.

In the post-apocalyptic world that you lived in, manners and morals were thrown to the wind. There was no one to judge you, save for a bunch of brain-dead canibals. You'd passed people that were bludgeoned to death, child that had been murdered, women that had been raped and killed in alleyways. Being in a room with three adolescent guys that could easily overpower you was a terrifying thing.

"You might want to fix that hole," you said. "I just barely managed to escape a mob of those fuckers about twenty minutes ago. They can't be far, and I'm sure that shooting off that thing caught their attention."

"Yeah, well, maybe if Jeydon hadn't been so trigger happy then we wouldn't have to," said one of the boys.

"I'm allowed to be paranoid, okay?" Jeydon said defensively. "I don't want to hear it from you, Johnnie. You're the reason Jordan and I are stuck up here anyway."

"Would you two shut it?" Jordan said softly. He turned to you, a childish smile on his face. "You hungry? We've got enough food."

"Yes please." You plopped down on the ground next to Jordan, him seeming to be the least hostile. The other two still seemed irritated with each other, as well as hesitant to allow a stranger into their shelter. You were rather hesitant to sit with a bunch of strangers yourself, but the smell of hot dogs made your stomach growl.

Jordan fixed you up with a hot dog on a slightly stale bun alongside a small bag of potato chips. You thanked him three times while he put your food together, causing him to smile widely every time. The other two seemed to relax slightly, realizing that you were no threat to them. If anything, you were an asset.

The taste of food in your mouth distracted your thoughts, and the only things that you could even remotely think up was how grateful you were for Jordan and his two friends. You savored every bite, thanking the ceiling for allowing you to find these amazing people.

After you ate, the boys started telling you stories of what they did together before the world went to shit. Johnnie was bullied at school, but was really famous on the Internet. He apparently sung wonderfully, getting signed onto a record deal the week before shit went down. Jeydon surprised his girlfriend by visiting her a few days before everything went down. She was his world, other than his Pop Figures. He's confident that she's alive, though he said she wouldn't have gone very far. She couldn't bear leaving home.

Jordan's story was the most powerful. A few days before the world went to hell, he held his girlfriend's hand in the hospital as she lost a two year long battle with brain cancer. He attended her funeral the day before everything fell. He said, "I try to stay positive and happy like I used to because it's what she wanted. She told me the day before she died. She told me to keep my head up. She said that you can't have a rainbow without the rain." You could hear the strain in his voice as he continued to smile, acting as though he was completely unaffected. It obviously hit him harder than he let on. He said that you can't have a rainbow without rain, but he's clearly still waiting for the rain to end. He's just struggling.

"What about you, Y/N, what's your backstory?" Jeydon asked, looking over from his pained friend to you. It was obvious he was trying to change the subject, and he seemed genuinely curious in your story. You felt as though you could trust them.

"Well...."

Fill in that little story all by yourself. I feel like it wouldn't be a MDE Member x reader if I didn't add things like that from time to time.

Also, I need you, the reader, to make a choice.

1) end up with Jeydon, Johnnie, or Jordan
2) one of the three boys die
3) you die
4) you all become close friends

One of these choices lead on to more than two parts. One choice leads on to many parts. Two choices lead on to only two parts. Pick wisely. Comment or PM me your choices.

What did you guys think about MDE 2.0? Did you think it was as terrible as I did? Did you unsubscribe to both Bryan and the channel like me? Cause lemme tell you, this story wouldn't have changed one way or another, because nobody can change what made that channel and this book what it was. Leave your opinions in the comments!

Stay safe, stay strong, and stay beautiful my Lil bitchez.

Yours Truly,

Andromeda Leigh Barnett
