I walked quickly to Jess' room as the white and beige hospital walls all blurred into an ugly memory that would be imprinted in my mind for a long time.

My mom's voice got muffled and I vaguely remember responding since all thoughts were on Jess and hoping he was okay. We got to his room and he laid, unconscious, in his bed that seemed giant while he seemed so minuscule compared. Luke looked up at me with sympathy in his eyes as I scanned Jess' body looking for the sources of his unconsciousness. His right eye was black and his face was torn up immensely, his knuckles were bandaged up, and it looked like there were bandages underneath his hospital gown. I wanted to cry from the scene being terrifying seeing Jess helpless and hurt.  My mom looked over and put her arms around me.
"He's going to be fine," She said. "He'll be back gelling his hair in no time."
I sniffled, finding the statement funny but I couldn't laugh. "Did Logan do this to him?"
"He's not talking." Luke finally spoke.

"Where is he?" I felt anger rise in my body. "I can make him talk."
"That's not the greatest ide-" Luke began to say.
"Room 314, a few doors down." My mom chimed in, interrupting him.
I walked out and immediately went into Logan's room.

"Hey Ace," The blonde-haired beat up man said in-front of me.
"Don't 'Hey Ace' me, Logan. What the hell happened?" I scowled at him.
"It's not what it seems, I swear." He started to try and defend.
"Then explain it!" My voice raised.
"I wanted to yell at Jess, I was mad after what had happened when we met, I was jealous and I wanted to yell at him. I didn't want to fight him, honest." Logan started to sit up as he was explaining.
"But you did, so saying that you didn't want to does not count."
"I didn't fight him, Rory. Some group of guys mugged us."
"What?"
"I walked over to Jess, before I got there, some guy hit Jess in the side and started taking his stuff that's when I came in and the situation just got worse from there. The guy's buddies came up and mugged us both."
I felt my emotions soften, feeling a little regret over snapping at Logan. "Then why didn't you say any of this to Luke or my mom?"
"I shouldn't have to explain myself to anyone. I didn't beat up Jess." He scowled.
I sighed. "I'm sorry I accused you,"
"I think you should go." He stared at his hospital bracelet.
"Logan,"
"Go, Rory." I left the room and went back to Jess'.

Liz, TJ and Doula came in the room about an hour after I had gotten to the hospital. Liz and TJ were as always, overbearingly trying to help but it was sweet. Doula had grown up a lot in the past couple of years and had TJ's brown hair and Liz' eyes.

I gave Doula a piggyback ride as we walked around the hospital, trying to find the cafeteria. We giggled and she babbled in the typical three year-old fashion.  We grabbed some pudding once we got to the cafeteria and then walked back to Jess' room. When I walked in, my heart skipped a beat when I saw Jess was awake and he gave a weak smile to me. Doula ran over to Jess and crawled on his bed as Jess' face immediately changed to being in-pain. Liz quickly grabbed Doula off of Jess and he tried to readjust himself.
"Man, it's silent in here." My mom said, trying to diffuse the tension in the room.
"Something about being in a hospital does that and gives this nasty eery feel to everything," Jess laughed.

I sat down in the chair next to Luke's and we called the doctor in the room. The doctor reported that Jess should be able to go home tonight without a problem but to watch his injuries over the next few days to make sure they don't get infected.
