I had to fight

just to make it through the night

to make you happy

even though I wasnt very chatty

I did it for you

it was the only thing you asked me to do

you were my best mate

but I dont know if I can still call you that-mate

I'm trying

even when I feel like dying

I do it for you

its the one thing you made me promise to do

I asked nothing of you

I hoped you'd know the right thing to do

we havent spoken in weeks

not even when these tears leak

I miss you

I know its a stupid thing to do

but dont you see?

its not easy for me

I'm on my own now

you made it easier by being there

but now being there is rare
