"Erin... don't joke like that. That's not cool." Jay replied.
"No. It's not cool, and it's also not a joke. So, the other day, while you were in the bathroom, I went over to your desk to put a file on your desk and I noticed like fifty messages from a Kate. They said, 'I love you', 'I need you', 'Come home', stuff like that. Who is she? Why does she need you, why is she saying she loves you?" Erin shouted, changing her mind about her original topic.
"Erin? Wha-, Kate is..., she's someone close to my heart. She is a relative, and she needs me because her mom just died and it hit her hard and I'm her closest friend. We aren't dating or anything, if that's what you were thinking. I'm also sorry you thought that, but you could've come to me. You could've told me what you were thinking." Jay consoled.
"Oh, how are you related?" Erin asked.
"That's not important. I told her no because, well I don't wanna talk about it. But, anyways, we better get going, our plane leaves in an hour and unless you wanna drive to Missouri."
"How about we don't go to Missouri. What about Texas? Texas sounds good." Erin pleaded.
"Yeah, sure. Anything for you." Jay kissed her.

Two Weeks Later
Erin goes to talk to Will - Will Halstead
"Hey, Will, listen, I have to ask you about something. Well..., more about someone." Erin started.
"Sure."
"Who's Kate?"
"Kate...?"
"She was texting Jay. Jay said that you guys are related and that her mom just died." Erin explained.
"Oh, that Kate. Yeah, we don't talk to her anymore. I'm surprised he even told you about her, or even that he has her cell phone number. Honestly, we don't even talk about her anymore. Bad stuff went down. It screwed Jay up." Will stated.
"So..., what happened?"
"Well, she got mad..., I honestly don't know what happened between them, but nasty things were said and it was bad. And what he told you, how we were related, that's a lie. It was way more than that. She was way more than that. We loved her. He loved her. Hell, everyone did, but she screwed him up, she screwed us all up. She's basically the reason he is afraid of commitment." Will said.
"He..., he's scared of committing? Because of some dumb bitch?" Erin gritted her teeth.
"Don't! Don't call her a dumb bitch. She isn't. But I wouldn't pressure him too hard if you go and start asking him a lot about her." Will warned.
"Okay, well why not?"
"Erin, you're being a little bit..., nosy?"
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"How did you even find out about her?" Will questioned.
"I... peeked... at... his texts." Erin murmured.
"Exactly!" Will exclaimed.
"I don't even know who she is! Is she a cousin, a close friend, an ex? How am I that nosy if I don't even know who she is!?" Erin screamed.
"Wait," Will froze, "you don't know who she is..."
"No... why?" Erin spoke.
"Don't tell Jay I told you, but... Kate is...." Will started.
