"How have you been, Jay?" Natalie walked in.
"Other than the fact that I can barely my arms and I can't move my legs, I'd say I'm doing great." Jay stated sarcastically.
"Jay, don't get sarcastic with her. You know it was a possibility that you wouldn't even be able to use your arms, but you can, be happy." Erin scolded.
"I'm sorry, Natalie. It's been really tough on me. I just can't imagine how the rest of you feel. Especially you, Erin, I just wish I could go back and stop this from happening. I'm so sorry, guys." Jay disparaged himself.
"Hey, Jay. It wasn't your fault, you couldn't have known. Erin's fine. Your child is fine. You are gonna be fine. You're in recovery right now. There's a 10% percent chance that you're gonna walk again, but just being able to move your arms is better than not moving at all." Natalie informed.
"I know, Natalie. Thank you, so much. Really. How's Will doing with all this? Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he's scared to come and see you. He doesn't want to... he's trying to find courage right now, he'll be in soon, I promise." Natalie comforted.
"Hey, it's okay. If I was him, I probably would never show up, I don't care if he ever comes again, as long as I know he's doing okay." Jay stated.
"He's doing fine." Natalie replied.
"Natalie, I have a question..." Erin started.
"Yeah, anything."
"So, I have an ultrasound tomorrow. We had it rescheduled, and we want to go together, but he's stuck in this room. Is there anyway we could like bring it here? Could you put in a good word or whatever?" Erin asked.
"I can try and pull some strings for y'all. We'll see. I better get going, talk to ya later." Natalie responded and left.
"That's good," Erin turned away. "Jay, there's something I have to tell you. Every now and then I have a little cramping. It's only been since after the accident, and I didn't want to acknowledge it in fear of the baby being injured. I haven't had an ultrasound and I've been having these cramps for two, maybe three days."
"Why didn't you say so?" Jay started, "If we'd known, I don't care if I'm there are not, all I care about is if you and the baby are okay. That's all that matters. I don't want to lose you two, so if you have to, just go do the ultrasound now. If that's what you want."
"Yeah, I will. Thanks Jay. You should get some rest. I'll be back soon."
"That sounds good. I'll, uh, I'll see you later." Jay tried to wave, barely moving his arm.
He fell asleep almost immediately, but was woken about an hour later.
"So, you're getting moved temporarily," a nurse came in and stated.
"What, why?" Jay asked groggily.
"We need this room for a couple minutes." The nurse lied.
The nurse helped him into the wheelchair and wheeled him down to another room. As she wheeled him in, his face lit up. He smiled with joy. The first smile he'd smiled in days.
"You did this for me...? But I thought they said I was stuck in the room..." Jay started.
"I did. And they did say you were, but I told them it would make you happy, and they agreed because the doctors have seen how sad you've been. And I wanted you to be here, I couldn't do this without you... I wouldn't do this without you." Erin stated.
"Thank you," he told the nurse who wheeled him to the room, "tell whoever got this to happen thank you," he told Erin. "Who exactly helped with this...?"
"I did," Will stated, walking into the room, "and Natalie, too." He pointed to her.
"Hey, Will. What's up, how have you been?" Jay asked.
"I'm doing fine, how are you...? I know this must be tough." Will stated.
"It is, but I'm glad you're here, along with Erin, of course. And you can't leave out Nat, she's been a big help, too."
"Yeah, well, I was trying to come see you, and I know I came while you were unconscious, but I couldn't bear coming and seeing you awake and unable to move your arms and legs. Although I've heard you have been moving those arms." Will smiled.
"I have. Anyways, thanks for doing this..." Jay thanked.
"The doctor should be here soon, so we will just let y'all be... We'll see you later." Natalie headed out of the room, Will following.
"Erin, do you mind wheeling me closer to the bed?" Jay asked.
"No problem," She walked over to him and pushed him closer to the bed.
"I'm excited for this," Jay smiled.
"Me too," Erin replied.
