"Today is the day. It's been five months, Jay. You can do this." He closed the ring box, left in his suit and went to work. That's where he was gonna propose.
Jay was intentionally late. "You're late, and you're wearing that ridiculous suit." Platt teased.
"I can't talk now, gotta go." He ran up the stairs.
"Glad you could join us," Voight laughed..
"Not now." Jay brushed his words off. He walked right up to Erin.
"Five months ago, you told me no. You said you weren't ready. I love you, Erin. I want you. You all I've ever wanted. I don't know where I'd be, without you here me. You're my best friend, life with you makes perfect sense. I told you this is what I wanted. I told you how I felt and you gave me five months." He grabbed her hands and pulled her up and out of her chair. "I would die a very happy man if you just said yes. I would be happy if you even considered saying yes. All I want is to be with you. You told me we couldn't get married because no one knew about us dating, now they all do. And I don't care if I get fired, it'll all be worth it. I would do anything if it meant being with you. They all know. I love you. I want to be with you. Voight, he gave me permission, something I never thought he'd do, but he did because he knows I make you happy. You said it yourself, I've changed you, and you've changed me for the better, I wanna keep being that man for you. Erin Lindsay, please, would you do the honor of becoming my wife, my one and only constant, my partner for life?" He knelt to the ground and pulled out the ring he picked out a week and a half before.
"Would you really do that for me?" Erin questioned.
"Do what?"
"Lose everything. Just for me."
"Yes, of course." Jay smiled, "I'd do anything for you."
"I don't want that for you." Erin looked away. "I want you to be happy. Being with me and not being a cop won't make you happy."
"You don't know that. Only I do. Being with you will only make me happier than being a cop ever could."
"So if it came down to it, what would you choose? Me or the law?" Erin turned back to him.
"You. Always you. I choose you." Jay stood and held her steady.
"I'll always choose you, too." She pulled him into a kiss, "wait, no."
"No? You don't want to get married."
"No, what about intelligence? Are you fired?" Erin asked.
"No, Voight said I could stay. We just can't be in love here, well we have to act like we aren't."
"Okay. So then it's a yes." Erin smiled.
"Yes?"
"Yes." Erin kissed him. He slid the ring on her finger. "It's beautiful. I love it. But, I love you more. Jay, I love you."
"I thought---, I thought you weren't gonna say that til you were married."
"I wasn't gonna say it til I was sure. I'm sure now. I'm way more than sure. I love you so much," Erin let out, she kissed him and they made out until Voight had to yell at them to get back to work.
