The Parting of Way

"Today we acknowledge a very terrible loss. Cedric Diggory  was as you all know, exceptionally hard working, intricately fair minded. And most importantly a fierce fierce friend. That's why I believe  you have the right to know exactly how he died. You see, Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort."

At the mention poor Harry flinches, and I squeeze his hand in comfort which he returns. The somber feeling in the once welcoming feeling of the Great Hall is crushing, all of us feeling the lose of a classmate and friend.

"The Ministry of Magic does not wish me to tell you this. But not to do so, would be an insult to his memory. Now the pain we feel at this dreadful loss reminds me, reminds us that while we may come from different places and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one. In light of recent events the bonds of friendship we made this year will be more important than ever."

"Remember that and Cedric Diggory will not have died in vain, you remember that. And we'll celebrate a boy who was kind and honest and true right to the very end."

Dumbledore finishes his speech and we all join in a moment of silence for Cedric before being sent on our way, school being cancelled for the rest of the year.

The train will be in tonight, and honestly I can't wait to go home. This year has just been overwhelming for everyone. And in a past letter Remus said we will be able to see Dad finally.

"You alright Love?" Fred asks shaking my arm, snapping me from my thoughts.

"Yeah, just glad to be going home actually." I say with a small smile.

"Me too surprisingly. Don't worry though, I give Remus a week before you two show up at the Burrow."

This makes the two of us laugh, and I agree before we both head up the stairs to start packing for home.

After everything was packed, I snuck across the way, to see how Harry was doing after everything. Knocking on his door, I see he's the last in the dorm, sitting next to his trunk.

"Harry?" His head pops up and a small smile crosses his lips.

"Evelyn. You can come in." I close the door behind me making my way across the room.

"How are you? Truthfully."

"Truthfully...I don't know Evelyn. I—knowing that he's really back...and that Cedric is dead because of it..."

"Hey. Don't you dare blame yourself for any of this Harry—"

"But it's true! If I hadn't have been there, if I warned Cedric sooner...if I had just lost Evelyn. Voldemort wouldn't be back, and Cedric would still be alive.."

He tells me this with a sniffle, his eyes lowering to his lap. My heart hurts for this poor boy, he's gone through so much, no normal 14 year old would ever have to deal with...he can only be so strong for so long.

I simply pull him in for a tight hug, knowing words won't help him right now, but just the comfort of family is what he needs most.

Arriving at King's Cross station, Harry suddenly pops into our compartment with a smile on his face.

"Fred, George, can I talk to you? Evelyn you too." The three of us sit back down, and listen to what he has to say.

"Did you lot ever get anything out of Bagman?" At that the twins groan and get dark looks on their faces.

"No. Bloody git paid us in leprechaun gold that he caught from the Irish mascots." Fred explains.

"So..?"

"So it vanished, by the next morning it was gone!"

"We tried to talk to him while he was at Hogwarts, but he gave every excuse not to be around us. Towards the end he got real nasty. Told us we were too young to gamble, and he wasn't going to give us anything."

"So we asked for our money back." George says with a glare.

"Not a chance." Fred finishes and Harry just looks stunned.

"Here. Before we get off, I want you to take it." Harry thrusts his bag of winnings from the tournament into George's hands, while they stare in confusion.

"What?" Fred says as his eyes bulge.

"Take it. I don't want it."

"You're mental." George says as he presses the bag back into Harry's hands, well attempts to anyways.

"No, I'm not. You take it and get inventing. It's for your joke shop." He says with a smile, but a firm tone letting us know there's no arguing with him.

Before any of us can say anything, he's out the door and headed off the train. The boys are still, as they stare at the bag in George's arms, not fully believing it's there in the first place.

"C'mon boys. It's time to go home." I say with a smile pulling Fred from his dazed state, off of the bench.

"Evelyn!" I hear being yelled from across the station. I look over to see Remus pushing his way through other parents, rushing in my direction.

Suddenly I'm enveloped in such a tight hug, I'm left breathless. Remus holds me to his chest and we just stand in the embrace.

"Thank goodness you're alright." He whispers into my hair. "I read in the paper...your father is so worried about the two of you."

"We're okay Moony." I say with a small smile. "Harry, of course, is a little shaken up about it all, but he'll be okay. Seeing Dad should help him."

"We'll see what we can do Paws. With You-Know-Who back things are going to change." I nod at what Remus says hoping things won't get too terrible.

"We do have to hurry and head out though I'm afraid. You and I have somewhere to be." He says and I nod quickly heading back towards my boyfriend.

"Everything okay Love?" He asks as I reach him.

"Yeah, Remus just has to get going, but I'll see you soon ya?" I say as he pulls me close.

"Of course Love. It'll be sooner than you think." He says with a smile, bending down to give me a sweet kiss.

"I love you."

"I love you too Freddie."
