A Time to Ourselves

I wake up only to the sounds of Fred's quiet snores, and birds chirping outside the tower window. Completely comfortable with staying in bed all day, I snuggle closer and drift back to sleep.

Some while later, I feel gentle hands threading through my hair absentmindedly, and I flutter my eyes open.

"Good morning Love." Fred says with his intoxicating morning voice.

"Morning Freddie." I say with a sleepy smile, attempting to lay my head back down on his chest.

"You can't fall asleep on me Evey." He says with a slight chuckle.

"Why not?"

"Because. I have the day planned for us Love. After all it is our anniversary." My eyes snap open, surprised he remembered, and surprised it came so fast.

"You have the day planned?"

"Gah, don't act so surprised Evelyn." He says with a playful roll of his eyes.

"What do you have planned??" Fully awake I sit up in the bed, excited for the day.

"Nu uh. I'm not telling you just yet. Go get dressed and meet me in the common room." He says sitting up as well, opening the curtain.

"But Fred—"

"Sorry Evey. Now go!" He says with a laugh and a kiss, then he shuffles me out of the dorm room.

"Well then.." I huff, but get over it when I remember he has a surprise planned. This is exciting!

I quickly get dressed in a mint skater dress, with sandals and put just a little mascara on, and I'm out the door.

"You look beautiful Evey." Fred says with a smile as he pulls me into another kiss.

"Thank you. You look quite handsome yourself. Can I know what we're doing now?" I say with an innocent smile causing him to chuckle.

"Nice try Paws, but I would be honored if you come join me for the afternoon?"

He says holding his hand out for me to take. I give him a smile, placing my hand in his and he leads me from the common room.

"Can you believe it?" I ask as we go down the stairs.

"Mm?" He asks looking at me.

"Can you believe it's been a year already?" I ask and he smiles as he thinks about it.

"It doesn't feel like a whole year. Ya know?"

"Mhmm. It's been a good year that's for sure." I say with a smile and he nods in agreement.

"We're here."

He says with excitement spinning me around to see we've reached my favorite willow tree. The same from last year.

"We haven't been out here in forever so I thought you'd like to spend the day in your favorite place."

Pulling me into the cover of the tree, I see a blanket placed in the middle with a basket setting on top.

"I know it's not a lot—"

"It's perfect Fred." I say cutting him off with a passionate kiss.

We had lunch with tea, talking about anything and everything for who knows how long. It was nice to just be us.

"Have you heard from your dad lately?" He asks while we finish the pot of tea that was here.
