As we continued, not far off, the snow started to disappear and melt, but the cold weather stayed neutral. With every step I cursed Thresh for existing. If he hadn't been born, or if he'd only stay for a couple thousand years under the stupid seal, then we wouldn't be doing this. It was like he plotted this all up to make us suffer. Vinny came next to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, holding the kids in her other hand.
"Hey, cheer up a little. If you go with that dangerous mood and meet Thresh you might kill him instantly," She said, with a smile. I smirk and sighed.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Here," She said, handing me a gold pendant.
"What is this for?" I asked. She smiled brightly.
"Put it on. It's for luck," She said.
The air got even colder and there was barley any snow left on the floor. I could clearly see the red brick floor and the cracks that illuminated an orange liquid. Lava? This weather couldn't get any stranger. "There," Lancer stopped, causing me to nearly collide in to him. I narrowed my eyes and saw a dark figure. It was very large, I couldn't describe the amount of space it took. "His castle," Lancer said. My muscles tightened. I gripped the sleeves of the jacket. We were almost there.
Lancer turned to the kids and stared at then for a while. "You guys can't come with us." He told them. Obediently, they nodded.
"So..we're just going to leave them here?" Vinny said. Even though she still had Kira's tail with her, I could see the black under her eyes, and how tried she became after traveling each time. She seemed much slimmer and pale. Was she going to keep up with us?
"No, we won't leave them like that," Lancer said. He approached them and bent down. He touched the floors and immediately icicles grew out and caged around them. He touched an icicle bar and it opened, fitting just about a life size human in. "I'm going to seal the gaps. You three wait here quietly. We will come out, I promise." He told them. I rushed in and took off my coats.
"Here," I told them, helping them fit in to the coats. I took off scarf and wrapped it around Gina, then placed my hat on Lilly.
"Kali, you'll catch a cold," Vinny warned.
"Don't worry, we are close to the castle anyway, it won't be that bad." I told her. I glanced at the kids again and pulled out Kira fro my jacket. "Kira, please stay here and protect them!" I whispered in to her ear. She purred and turned big, wrapping her tail arudn the children.
"We are going to come back for you. We will, you can count on that." I told them. Before leaving the cage, I lit a small fire in the middle and then let Lancer seal it up. I hope they don't become small ice cubes by the time we come back...if we come back. I shook the thought out of my head and continued walking towards doom.
No one was in the mood of speaking and we weren't also on a rush to hurry in to the castle. I mean Lancer, who was usually in the lead, walked next to us. I stayed close, by Vinny, who's condition didn't get any better. "Hey, are you okay?" I whispered. She nodded.
"I think it's just the cold, and the air around here," She mumbled back. Well for some reason I didn't have any difficulty breathing, unlike the time we stepped near the castle and fought the maniac.
"Vinny, don't push yourself if you're feeling too sick," Lancer adviced, looking straight ahead. Some one was becoming a soft kind hearted man.
"I'm not sick. I can't fight as well Lancer!" Vinny replied. They glanced at each other, having a mental conversation, and I was the odd one out. I wonder what happened between those two.
