A L E XAfter Eryn told me about the people that were going to adopt, I didn't get very much sleep because I kept thinking about what I would do if I got adopted again. I couldn't leave Eryn, it just wouldn't be fair to her. There were so many things going through my mind. I could run away. Maybe if I act bad, they won't want me. I usually got taken back anyway, so I just convinced myself that I wasn't going to get adopted and fell back asleep.

"C'mon Alex. You need to wake up and get ready." I heard Eryn's soft voice whisper.
"Aaughh.." I groaned.
I looked over to the clock to see that it was 5 a.m.
I laid there for a while, too tired to even think. I eventually got up and grabbed some clothes out of my dresser that Eryn and I shared. Neither of us had very many shirts or shorts, but it's not like we needed it anyway. I also grabbed a towel, and headed to the shower room.
There were about four showers in the room, but I was alone. I took the last one and closed the curtain, leaving my clothes in the dry part.
🎤 "We don't have to be ordinary, make your best mistakes, cause we don't have the time to be sorry. So baby be the life of the party, I'm telling you to take your shot it might be scary. Hearts are gonna break.." 🎤
Someone opened my shower curtain, so I immediately stopped singing.
"Hello?"
I grabbed my towel to cover myself up a little bit.
"Alex?" Katie asked. Katie was another girl at the orphanage, we weren't close, but we talked very now and then.
"Jeez Katie! I was in the middle of my shower!" I said, trying to not yell.
"Oh I'm sorry," she said quietly, "I just heard someone singing and it was really good so I wanted to see who it was."
"Uh, thanks but I kinda just wanted to shower," I said, still mad.
"Umm wait." Katie said, "You have an amazing singing voice, you should sing more often. Bye."
She left, leaving me alone to my shower. I decided not to sing again, just in case she was listening. I don't really like people listening to me, so that's why I don't do it very much.

My hair was almost done drying when Eryn came into our room crying.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
She didn't answer me, she just got out my suitcase and opened one of my drawers.
She was starting to freak me out. This wasn't like her
"Eryn! What are you doing? You're scaring me," I said, my heart pounding faster.
"Don't you see? You're getting adopted! And I'm going to be alone again!" She cried.
"No! I'll run away if I have to!" My voice was shaking.
Eryn packed my suitcase for me and I went downstairs to meet my new parents. I cried most of the way down but managed to get my act together when I saw them. There was a not so friendly-looking lady with blond hair and three boys with her. The oldest had greenish blueish eyes and dark hair. He had a black sweatshirt that said, "CD Cameron Dallas' on it.
Who's Cameron? I wondered. I thought about my brother, who was dead. His name was Cameron.
The middle child had blue eyes with dark hair and a red shirt that said, 'MAGCON' on it.
I wonder what magcon is. I thought.
The youngest was probably a year or two older than me. He had really blue eyes and was wearing a red Abercrombie & Fitch shirt.
They introduced themselves one by one. The lady went first.
"Hi Alex, I'm Christine. It's so nice to meet you!" She said.
I guess she was nicer than she looked...
The boy with the magcon shirt said, "I'm Brandon but you can call me Brando if you want to."
I nodded.
"I'm Ashton! And that's Hunter," the youngest boy said, pointing at the oldest.
"He's kind of cranky right now, so don't say anything," Ashton whispered.
Hunter laughed, "Ashton I heard you. And I'm not cranky. I'm just tired."
Ashton shrugged, "Same thing."
Miss Susan said, "Alex, how about you go get your suitcase and say bye to your friends."
I nodded, knowing that this was going to be hard. I went back upstairs to Eryn. I cried a little bit, but I knew that I would be happy with them. After Eryn and I said our final goodbyes, I got my suitcase and headed back to Christine, Ashton, Brandon, and Hunter.
We left and got into their car. I wondered if they had a dad.
"Um," I said.
"Yes?" Christine answered.
I decided if I should ask my question or not.
"Uh, what do you want me to call you?" I didn't want to ask about the dad just in case something bad happened.
"You can call me Christine or mom. It's totally up to you," she said.
I nodded. I was sitting the middle section of the car, and Brandon was behind me.
I turned around in my seat and said, "Brandon?"
"Huh?" He responded.
"What's magcon?" I asked.
"Um... We'll explain everything when we get back to our house okay?"
"Okay." I said.
