Part 25: Strapped

~Sonic's P.O.V~

Sonic woke up with wide eyes. He was still laying in his hospital bed, and there was still a bit of pain in his stomach, but the size had decreased a small amount. He sat up, almost struggling to move at first from the pain. One of the nurse's walked over to him, adjusting the bed so he could stay sat up without having to hold himself there.
"How do you feel?" She asked in a calming voice.
He sighed. "My stomach still hurts." He held both hands gently on his stomach just to prove that.
The nurse nodded. "It's going to hurt for a while. It's best you rest once you get home."
Aleena put one hand on one of Sonic's. "Don't worry. You'll be alright once the pain goes away."
Sonic looked to her. "How long did it take you?"
Aleena shrugged her shoulders. "It wasn't that long. A few weeks, maybe, I don't remember it very well. It's most likely going to be a few weeks to a month that you'll still have the pain, or it could stop earlier than that since we're two different genders, you never know."
Sonic chuckled, looking up at the ceiling. He was speaking to one of the doctors when he spoke, though he didn't take his eyes off the ceiling. "You said Shadow isn't the only one here, that some of my friends are as well."
One of the doctors walked over to his side. "Yes. Do you want to see them?"
Sonic sat up a bit more at this, looking up at the doctor with what seemed like a million bright sparkles shining in his eyes. A wide grin spread across his face. "Like I'd say no to a question like that." The doctor chuckled and walked out of the room. Sonic actually felt comfortable laying back now. Within a few minutes, the doctor walked back in the room, and everyone followed Amy in. Amy and Tails both ran to either side of him.
"How do you feel?" Tails asked. "Shadow's been worried sick about you since we've been out there."
Sonic laughed at this. "Obviously he would be. I'm fine, my stomach just hurts a little, still."
Amy let out a sigh of relief. "That's good. Everybody was kinda worried anyways, especially me."
Sonic almost rolled his eyes. "Yeah and I know you've had a crush on me since day one, so-" He playfully pushed her away. "-Back off." This caused all three of them to laugh a little. Amy trotted back over to Rouge and started talking to her as normal, and Tails talked to Shadow for a minute before dragging him over. They all sat in silence for a moment before Shadow finally spoke.
"They weren't kidding saying I was worried about you," He said it quietly, but it was still audible.
Sonic smiled. "I know." He thought a moment, hoping Shadow was reading his thoughts, then he had the idea. "Hey, Shadow?"
Shadow looked up at him, since he had been looking at the floor. "What?"
Sonic smirked. "Come here for a minute. Please?" He tilted his head in a manner that he knew Shadow couldn't ignore.
Shadow blushed a tad and sighed, taking another step closer to the bed. "What?" Tails backed up when he knew what was going to happen, because he had the widest smile on his face.
Sonic put his hands to Shadow's shoulders and pulled him even closer; just enough to make their lips touch. Sonic knew Shadow was surprised by this, because he felt the other's fur begin to bristle a tad, but it soon flattened as Shadow put his arms around Sonic gently. They stayed like this for a minute before finally pulling away from eachother.
Shadow managed to keep his smile then because of that, but Sonic's face seemed so red from embarrassment, it was like they started all over again, and Sonic had just come to the school. Sonic never really lost his shyness, but he seemed even more easily embarrassed now. The tips of his ears were turning red because of how badly he was blushing. This blush soon died down when one of the doctors walked over to him, and whispered in his ear.
Sonic nodded, and he already felt tears of joy rolling down his cheeks at this news. The nurse lifted up a small pink bundle off the table where they were standing, and she turned her head to look at Sonic. "It's a girl." Some of the others tried hiding their faces because they were blushing and crying out of happiness all in one. Sonic, Shadow and Tails were the only ones that weren't hiding as the nurse walked over to Sonic's bedside. Tails twirled his two-tails behind him in an excited manner as the nurse let Sonic hold the small child. She had light black fur, and red hair that was growing out just a little over part of her left eye. Small black spines poked out behind her head, and she had tannish skin, similar to Shadow's. Under her hair, there were 3 red lines that looked almost like straps in her fur.
Sonic held the child close to him, letting a small tear fall in her fur. Tails had turned away, wiping tears off his face with one of his tails. Amy looked up to Rouge, trying to stop tears from falling off her face. Blaze leaned her head on Silver's shoulder, whispering something to him. Sonic's ears perked when he remembered the small straps in the child's fur, and he looked to Shadow, with an even brighter smile on his face. Tails moved up to Sonic on the other side of the bed. Shadow's eyes widened a small tad, and Sonic knew he had read his thoughts. But the black hedgehog then smiled and nodded. Because Sonic had already chosen a name for her.
Strapped, in honor of the straps in her fur.
Tails leaned up on the edge of the bed and nuzzled Sonic's cheek. This made both of them blush, but it was their sign of friendship. Rouge and Amy walked over to them.
"Do you think you'll be alright to walk?" Rouge tilted her head a little, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.
Sonic sighed. "I should be fine, I've never had troubles walking with pain before."
Blaze flattened her ears. "Didn't seem like that at school."
Surprisingly, Sonic chuckled at this. "Well, it's not as bad as that, but it's pretty painful."
Tails moved to look at everybody. "If Amy doesn't drive as fast as before we got here, then we could take him home ourselves. That wouldn't be a problem, would it?" He looked at one of the doctors, and they nodded in approval. The doctor walked over and attempted to take Strapped, yet Sonic growled, almost protecting her. He looked down at her for another second before looking at Shadow, and they both instantly knew what the other wanted. Shadow carefully took Strapped from Sonic and backed up a bit so the Doctors could help Sonic get up. They instructed everyone to leave the room for a minute, which they all followed outside. Inside the room, the doctors let Sonic get dressed in his normal clothes, yet they had to help him stand for a minute, because he stumbled a little when walking.
He soon managed to stand on his own, and they left the room then. The doctor instructed Sonic and Shadow on what they should do with him and Strapped once they got home, and they nodded as they were following. Amy then offered to drive Sonic and Shadow back to their house, but they didn't want to, since Aleena was already there. Aleena helped the two out of the building to her car, and then they started driving home. Amy drove behind them for a short distance until they reached her house, and everybody decided to go ahead and stay with her for the night, since it was fairly late and they could sleepover anyways. Sonic almost wanted to stay with them, but he knew he had to take care of Strapped, and Shadow would take care of him. He took out his music, and quickly scrolled through his songs. Shadow unexpectedly plugged his own earphones into the music player and handed one earphone to Sonic.
Sonic seemed even shyer now that they were out of the hospital, but he took the earphone and put it in on the other side of his head so he could lean up against Shadow. Within a few minutes, Sonic had fallen asleep, and they were on their street home.
