~Shadow's P.O.V~

After Sonic and Shadow went downstairs to clean up, they realized how late it was getting, and Aleena would be home in a few minutes. Sonic ran off to go find a towel and Shadow waited by the stairs, pulling his hands through his quills. He was half scared to death that Aleena would get home any second and wonder what they were doing. He wasn't just afraid of that, but he was terrified of what would be happening tomorrow; an assembly at school. More like a concert. The only reason this assembly was happening was because of Shadow being in the Music Club with Amy, Rouge, Tails, Silver and Blaze, and many others. The worst part of that was parts of the song were solo bits; and Shadow had to sing one of them. Amy and Silver did the other two parts. Shadow hated doing things in public; he preferred to be alone if he wasn't with Sonic. His worst fear was that his love wouldn't like how he sang.
Sonic ran back out to him. "We really need to get this done fast, if Aleena's on her way now then it won't be long before she gets home." Shadow nodded, grabbing Sonic's hand and running back upstairs with him. Manic opened the door to his and Sonia's room as they reached Sonic's door.
"Jeez, you guys make a lot of noise when you're running," Manic muttered, slipping off his jacket and throwing it back in his room. "What are you guys doing anyways?"
Sonic and Shadow's ears flattened. Shit... Shadow's fur went pale; one person had already caught them. He was frozen to the spot, and he couldn't do anything, Sonic pulled himself from Shadow, running to his brother and kneeling beside him. He whispered something to him.
"What-?!" Sonic put one hand over Manic's mouth to shut him up.
"Don't tell anyone, or I'll tell Aleena what you did with those kids on the block the other night," Sonic ripped his hand from Manic and grabbed Shadow's, dragging him into his room. Sonic half slammed the door behind him; his fur was slightly darker than normal. Shadow's ears twitched with slow movements; his fur was still in pale shades of black and red.
"S-Sonic?" His voice shook as he spoke. The blue hedgehog looked to him, his face was almost expressionless. "A-are you alright?"
Sonic realized the half fear in Shadow's voice and walked over to him, throwing his arms over his shoulders. He pressed himself close to Shadow, holding tightly. The black hedgehog's fur darkened to its normal shade as he wrapped his arms around Sonic. Something was almost different about hugging the blue hedgehog; it wasn't just a feeling, it seemed like something was different about his physical being. Shadow pulled away from him, staring into his emerald eyes. Moonlight shined through the window over the bright green glare, making his eyes look even more beautiful now over the bright sapphire glow in his fur. Shadow leaned over and kissed Sonic gently on the lips for a short moment, and Sonic's fur seemed to brighten a little more over this. It almost had a golden tint to it.
Sonic broke back for a moment. "I could tell there was fear in your voice for a minute there. Is something wrong?"
Shadow's ears perked and he shook his head, letting them flatten. "It's nothing. Really."
Sonic had a worried look in his eyes. "I can tell something's wrong." He walked to his bed, sitting down and motioning with his ears for Shadow to come over and sit down. "You can talk to me, I am your boyfriend after all."
Shadow chuckled for a moment, but he soon frowned again, setting his hand down beside him. Sonic moved his hand onto Shadow's at the lightest touch. The black hedgehog sighed, looking up to Sonic. "Promise you won't laugh if I tell you this?"
"Why would I?"
"Everyone does because they don't believe me."
"I'll believe you." Shadow's cheeks turned a light shade of pink as he looked at the floor. His face darkened and almost shadowed out his eyes.
"Well, remember how I told you about the school assembly tomorrow that I'm involved in?" Sonic nodded. Shadow trembled the slightest as he thought of it. "It's for the Music Club. I'm one of the members, sadly. The song that we're gonna be singing there we practiced a thousand times already this year, and there's 3 solos in it. The worst part about that is I have to sing one of them." Shadow's free hand clamped tightly onto the bed sheets. "I'm afraid to sing in public."
"There's nothing to be embarrassed of in that! So you have a little stage fright, that isn't all that big a problem."
"No, you don't get it." Shadow looked up to Sonic with small tears in his eyes. "Mine is a lot worse. When I have to do things in public like that, it's difficult. When I was in public when I was younger with Gerald and Maria, something bad had happened in the center of town that loads of people were involved in, including us. Worst thing about that was everyone tried questioning me about it, and Maria had to keep them away from me, which even with her protection almost made me pass out. I can't do things in public, it makes me have panic attacks, that's why I wanted to quit the Music Club, but they said if I quit I'd get a zero on my permanent record, and that would be my first. Plus, according to previous stories of the school, it's one of the most embarrassing things possible to get a zero on your record, and I don't wanna be the main kid that gets laughed at." Shadow shivered, and he almost couldn't seem to control it by how bad it was. Sonic put both hands on the black hedgehog's shoulders, which settled him down a little, but some tears still pooled in his eyes. They rolled down his cheeks slowly, falling down on the floor. Sonic moved his hands up by Shadow's neck, and made it so he looked at him. The blue hedgehog then leaned forward and kissed Shadow's cheek where one of the tears had fell, and it faded after a few seconds. This made the black hedgehog smile, and he wrapped his arms around Sonic's torso, pulling him close.
Sonic chuckled, pulling a little bit back and pressing his nose lightly to Shadow's. "There's my smile."
A bright grin shone on Shadow's face as his cheeks turned a dark red. "You're lucky I smile for you. You're the only person I can be around that always makes me smile."
Bright pink dotted over Sonic's cheeks and he leaned up against Shadow, resting his head on the black hedgehog's chest. Sonic half clamped his arms around him, cuddling tightly against him and pressing his head against the other hedgehog's chest fur.
