~Shadow's P.O.V~

Shadow sat on the edge of his bed, looking around his room. Of course, he couldn't take everything he had, but he would take the important things. Besides, most of the stuff he had could be replaceable if he could save up the money for it. When he found out how to get it, that is. He gave a sigh, laying back against the wall, and letting his legs hang out over the edge of the bed. He thought hard on the things he wanted to take. He then sat up straight against the wall, looking out the window in his room. He walked over to it and shut it; he didn't want it getting too cold, mostly because he wasn't really wearing anything at the moment.
Shadow's ears twitched as he looked outside and saw Amy and Rouge down the street. He almost wished he could know what they were talking about; he always loved eavesdropping on other people. He wasn't really still sure why. He'd been doing it since the beginning of the school year; probably because he was so excited to hear what other people had been doing in their lives rather than knowing about his own. He then leapt away from the window and shut the curtains when he remembered he was supposed to be leaving with Sonic and Aleena when they got back, and he didn't know how long that would be. For all he knew, they could be back at any second. He quickly slipped on his gloves, pulling his rings over them and cuffing them into place. He slipped on his shoes and clipped the anklets into place, just as he had done with the rings on his wrists.
Shadow looked around once more, trying to find something else to wear. He shrugged and grabbed another hoodie out of his closet; this one was his new favorite hood because it was blue, and reminded him so much of Sonic's fur. He actually smiled at this, and smiling was something he never did often; until now. He slipped his shorts over his shoes, but it was a little difficult with his shoe style unlike others; such as Sonic's.
Shadow gave a sigh. It was still going to be difficult finding everything else he wanted. He pulled some headphones out from the drawer beside his bed, and he slipped them on, struggling to find his iPod. Once he found it again, he plugged in his headphones on turned on his favorite song. He hummed most of the lyrics as he grabbed another backpack he had used in previous years (that he kept surprisingly) and he continued looking around for things he could take with him to Sonic's house. He grabbed a small neckerchief he used to wear, almost glaring at it for a moment at the gemstone on the front of it. He then shook his head and put it in the backpack anyways.
Shadow narrowed his eyes as he saw a small shine of blue buried in the things on his floor. He uncovered it and picked up a small blue headband Maria had used to wear when he was younger. He had always kept it when she didn't want it anymore. It was one of the most important things to him. He always wanted to remember his sister when he finally left, even if she didn't want to know him anymore. He gave a sigh, setting it down gently in his neckerchief. He looked down to his bed, he half wondered if he could take something from it if he wasn't allowed to stay in Sonic's room. He then shook his head; he wouldn't need that extra protection, he really only used those things to hide himself. He wouldn't need to hide from anyone anymore. He grabbed some of his hoodies and most of his shorts, only few pairs of pants at the most, even though he didn't need them.
Shadow shut off his music and put his headphones and iPod in the backpack. He almost though he had everything he needed when he realized the one thing he had forgotten, which might come with other things. He grabbed his phone off his table and put it in a separate pocket on his backpack, along with a small photo of him and Maria that was taken when he was only 5. He had kept it as one of his most precious memories. He loved being so young, he almost wished he could go back to that time. He thought he'd never miss that time, and he was amazed that he was just now wanting to relive that time. He shook his head; at the moment, he couldn't be happier to be in high school, he'd been happy since he met Sonic, and he was still amazed that Sonic had even tried to have a conversation with him. Nobody had really tried to before, but Shadow saw something special in that hedgehog, and he wanted to prove that to himself before anyone else.
Shadow sighed. He closed the backpack and dragged it out of his room. He didn't bother telling Maria and Gerald where he was going; he just wanted to leave them so he wouldn't be heartbroken finding out again in the future. He walked out the door and slammed it shut. He sat down on the bottom step at his porch, and he waited for what seemed like forever for Sonic.
Before he had known it, he could hear the hedgehog calling for him. Sonic leapt over to him.
"Sorry it took so long!" Sonic's ears flattened, but he kept a smile.
"It's fine," Shadow almost chuckled. "What was keeping you?"
"That's my fault! Sorry!" Sonia leapt out from behind Aleena and Manic. Shadow crossed his arms, raising one eyebrow and twitching his ears. "I really am!"
"Sure you are," Sonic turned and almost growled at her. "You half got us lost back there because of that stupid thing you wanted."
"But it was cool!" Sonia whined.
"No it wasn't!" Manic growled. Sonia and Manic soon started fighting.
Sonic gave a sigh, turning back to Shadow. "Sorry, they do this a lot when we go out..."
"I bet I could make them shut up," Shadow's ears flattened.
"You can try," Sonic shrugged.
"Not now, I'm irritated enough as is," Shadow rubbed his forehead. Sonic turned to look back at Aleena and his siblings, glad they weren't paying attention. He then whipped around and kissed Shadow's forehead. He put one hand on the black hedgehog's shoulder.
"You feel better now?" Sonic's ears rose to their original stance.
Shadow nodded slowly; his muzzle was almost completely red, and he could feel his ear tips turning red as well. He must've been really embarrassed this time.
Sonic smiled. "Well, I'm gonna go stop them from killing eachother..." Sonic whipped around and ran over to his family, forcing them all apart and half shouting at his siblings, but he was kinder to Aleena, knowing she was trying to stop them as well.
"Alright, well we better head back to the house. Shadow, you're coming along as well of course, right?" Aleena looked over to the black hedgehog.
Shadow's ears perked and he nodded quickly, trying to hide the blush on his muzzle and ears. He ran over and grabbed both his backpacks, throwing one over his shoulder and just holding the other in his hand. He nodded and they all began back to Sonic's house. Shadow's eyes brightened a little knowing he'd be staying at his best friend's house. I hope I can stay in his room...
