Part 14: Let's Practice

~Shadow's P.O.V~

"Tails!" The two tailed fox turned to look back at Shadow.
"Hey! Preparations are almost finished, you think you're ready to perform?"
Shadow shrugged. "I'm still a little nervous."
"You'll get over it."
"By the way, I talked to Sonic, he asked if there's still anything that maybe he could do to help out."
"Oh!" Tails looked over the checklist he had with him. "There are a few things that are unfinished, and many of them aren't being done at all, I could tell him about the things we need to do and he can decide whatever he wants."
"Good, I want to get this done as soon as possible. Are we still announcing the assembly over the intercom like Amy said?"
"Yep! And you don't have to do it if you don't want to, I know you hate it, Amy and I could do it for you."
Shadow shook his head. "I'm fine with it. Really my only problem with talking over the intercom is I can't really tell how I sound. It's just... how deep my voice is. I..."
"I know how you feel," Tails flicked his ears. "Sometimes I think my voice is too high and squeaky to be heard, and Amy feels the same. I've talked to Sonic a few times, and even he's said he hates his voice and wishes he could change it."
Shadow's ears had perked when Tails mentioned Sonic. "He has?"
"I'm surprised he hasn't told you that yet, he seems to have so many secrets..." Tails looked up at the clock. "Oh! I think we're losing track of time, do you want to go practice with Blaze and Silver before the other grades get here?"
"I can, you just need to go and tell Sonic there's something he can do instead of just sit around doing nothing."
Tails gave a small laugh. "Right, I'll go do that, you go practice. I'm expecting well out of you three!" The fox gave Shadow a small hug, at a huge risk, before spinning his tails and flying off. Shadow half growled at Tails as he left; he really hated being hugged unless it was by Sonic. He spun back around and walked back over to Silver and Blaze.
Blaze looked over at him as he approached. "So you went to talk to Sonic?" Shadow just nodded; for right now he wanted to keep his mouth shut. "What did he want to talk about?"
"Nothing important," He really wasn't in the mood for conversation. He just wanted to get this assembly finished before his anxiety made him freak out on his friends. "I only came back over here because Tails says that we can practice before the show."
"You really sure you wanna practice with us? We could do our parts here and you could practice alone if you want," Blaze actually sounded concerned; a lot of people took risks trying to help Shadow or do anything with him at all really. He wasn't that much a fan of teamwork anyways.
"I'm sure, plus I normal get your guys' opinion on how I sound during performances."
"True, true..." Silver walked to a small black case and pulled out some music sheets that had all their lines on it, and the instrumentals. He handed Shadow his first, and then gave Blaze hers. They all looked over their lines again before they actually started singing, and they just decided since they'd have to wait for everyone else to do the normal lines, like the chorus and the bridge, that they'd all just sing them together.
Silver pulled a small music player from his pocket and turned up the volume so all 3 of them would be able to hear it. He started the music and let everyone look over the full lyrics again before he started off:

Shadow half flattened his ears as he started singing with both Blaze and Silver; he didn't like how his voice sounded with theirs; he thought it was odd because their voices were so high.
