Marinette's POV
It's been about a day and a half since the Captain and I had out little talk. And yes, I'm still in this cage. We have been at sea for about a week straight, and honestly I have no idea where we are. Yes it's sad to say that when you are a mythical creature from the sea but it is true. We were on a course to the Mansion but I had no idea where that was. The location was forbidden for mermaids to know. It was a weird rule but it was a custom of our people.
It was early morning and most of the crew was still asleep. Right when I thought today was going to be a good day. My favorite captain came walking over. Hint the sarcasm. He had a blank expression. He took the keys from his back pocket. Key? Why the hell does he have the keys? I eyed him wearily. He stuck the keys in the lock and opened my cage. I was so confused I had no idea what he was doing was he going to kill me, hurt me? He open the cage. He shocked his cage indicating to come out. "Come on. Get up." He said. I asked, "are you okay? Cause last time I checked you kinda hated me." He rolled his eyes.
"I'm fine. Now get out Mari." He said a little agitated, "we are going to be in port tomorrow so we need to take the cage below deck so we don't get any trouble or any questions asked." Of course there was a reason. I crawled out of the cage due to it being a confined space. And plopped into the wooden deck. "Come on Mari get up." I got up off my butt just a little bit but my legs were already wobbling. I couldn't trust my legs. Not yet at least. "I can't." I stated. "What do you mean you ca-- oh!" Said Adrien.
I nodded a little embarrassed. "Here let me help you." He said. He took my arm and put it over his shoulders and took his arm and put it around my waist hoisting me up onto the new pair of legs. "Whoa." I said a little surprised, pink dusting my cheeks. "There we go,"he said "now you can stand." I nodded. He then helped me take a few more steps getting used to my new muscles and movements. It was very different from a tail, but a pleasant experience. "Now try it on your own." He said. He let go of my body. And walked a little in front of me. His warmth leaving me. Why would I miss his warmth?!?! "Now walk to me." He said in a calming voice. I nodded and accepted the challenge.
My first two steps where a little shaky, but I got the hang of it. The third step looked more normal, the fourth was perfect! But the fifth was different. I tripped over my own two feet and started to fall toward the wooden deck. But the impact never came. Instead two strong arms wrapped around me, keeping me level.
I looked up to see none other than Adrien. His emerald green eyes staring into mine. "There you go." Said Adrien, "you did it." A tickling sensation started in my chest and trickled it's way through my whole body. My cheeks where burning and I probably looked like a tomato. "T-thanks. For the help." He giggled a little still looking me straight in the eyes. "Not bad for a mermaid." He smirked. "Now hold on to the rail and try doing some more by yourself. I need to wake up the crew." He stated. "You will be getting off the ship tomorrow."
"I will?" I questioned. He nodded, "don't you want some new clothes? Unless you want to keep mine so you can always be with me princess." She smirked walking away. "Ugh I would never want to be near you if I had a choice. And don't call me that!" I shouted. He laughed and went below deck.
I leaned on the rail for support and took a few more steps. It was slowly getting easier, but I still broke a sweat. Even with the ocean breeze blowing. I walked all around the deck taking easy slow steps. By the time I got to the bow of the ship I didn't need the rail! I took a seat and leaned against the sail, just letting the breeze blow through my hair. It was one of the things I envied of the human world. I closed my eyes. I could have easily escaped. Right here right now. Just jump over the rail and into the ocean blue. But for some reason I didn't. I don't know if it was because I liked the breeze so much, or if I would never be able to do this again. Or maybe something else. Possibly even a person made me stay. The Captain let me out of the my imprisonment. Even after we argued and got on each others nerves, he still trusted me. And for some odd, crazy reason I did too.
I sat there for a few minutes just thinking and enjoying my time breathing in oxygen.
Some one coughed beside me. "Uh Miss Marinette? Can I have a word with you please?" I looked up to see Plagg. Adriens First mate. How he knew my name, I don't know but I nodded anyway. He sat down beside me and let out a sigh. I waited anxiously on what he was going to ask. "Um do you--do you know a mermaid named Tikki?" Asked Plagg. I shocked expression appeared across my face. How in the world did he know Tikki? And Tikki out of all the merfolk? I replied, "Yes I do actually. Why? If I may ask." Plagg nodded. He seemed like he knew I was going to say that. "I knew from your marking. Adrien told me about it. I knew from what he said that you had to know Tikki. She is the only one who could have given you that mark." Said Plagg with a sad smile. I looked down at my wrist, examining the mark. "Yes you are right. How do you know her?" I asked with curiosity. Plagg laughed "Well it probably was before you were born, I met her. I was a young sailor wishing to be a pirate. I was reckless and stubborn. And I still am." he laughed. Our ship was being attacked by sirens.( a/n: that's another name for a mermaid) "they were trying to lure us into the water and one actually did and I fell over board. But for some odd reason, a chum like me, got rescued. And my rescuer was Tikki." Said Plagg.
Tikki has never ever told me this story! I need to have a word with her! "She snapped me out of the spell and for the first time I saw her face with my own eyes. She was beautiful. I was mesmerized by her beauty. Her crystal blue eyes where so caring and happy. Her night black hair made her eyes pop and her porcelain complexion added to her kindness. She had also had a tail very similar to yours." I was amazed by his words. He sounded so truly in love. It hurt to see him so sad and to not be with her. "We kept in touch. Occasionally she would appear at the surface beside the ship I was on an it would make my day! But one day I heard that a pack of mermaid were captured and killed for their oils and powers. And from that day on I never saw her again. I thought of the worst and it seemed like the only explanation. I was crushed and from that day I Changed. Then I met Adrien and he gave me purpose again. He let be on his ship and let me be his first mate. And I went on from there." Said Plagg. I nodded still trying to process his story. "Then we captured you. And I saw your marking! And I knew it came from Tikki! It gave me hope! She's still alive! If only I could see her again. I know you might more than I will, so if you see her, will you tell her I said hi?" Asked Plagg. I nodded "of course." Happy tears where in his eyes. "Thank you." And with that, he walked off.
Tikki was always the one telling me to not go above the surface and to stay in the ocean. But now, after this story, I honestly don't know why she would tell me those things. I had a lot to talk about with that lady.
A/N: Dang that was a long chapter to write! And not we got some Plagg and Tikki romance going on! Hope you liked it I will try to update soon. Don't for get to vote or comment. Also sorry for errors.
