Marinette's POV

I walked on to the top deck and saw Nino cleaning away. Honestly that was surprising. I went up to him and said, "I'm going to look for some work and earn a little money. Be back this evening." Maybe if I earned money for the crew and captain they wouldn't take me to Hawkmoth for ransom money. It was a plan that was worth trying. He nodded and waved goodbye. It was kinda nice. It was early in the morning and the port was just waking up. A few wagons passed by along with a few kids playing around. I then stumbled upon a cute little tavern called the Beer Blog. It was a simple wooden building nothing to fancy but it seemed warm and cozy. But the one thing that caught my eye was the bright yellow 'help wanted' sign hanging in the window.

I walked through the front door of the tavern. There were about 10 tables and a little bar in the corner. I walked to where a girl was cleaning a table. She had ombré hair. It was almost a reddish color. She had tan skin along with thick rimmed glasses. She was wearing a simple orangey colored dress. "Um hi, I saw your sign out side and was wondering if I could fill the job?" I asked. She turned around and a smiled filled her features. "Oh thank goodness girl! We need any hands we can get! Your hired!" She yelled. I smiled and thanked her. "So what can you do?" She asked. "Well I can clean the table wash dishes. Oh and I can bake!" I replied. "Oh perfect you can go in the kitchen and bake what ever you like! We need some new foods to serve!" She replied, "oh and I'm Alya!" With that she walked back around the counter to the kitchen.

That girl must be desperate. She didn't even ask my name. I guess if she trust me that much I better get going. I don't know, but I'm already liking this girl. She's so full of energy. I followed her into the kitchen. "So here is the oven, pots and pans, ingredients are in the cabinet here. You can cook what ever you want as long as it's good." She winked at me. "And what's your name? I never asked when we first met." She laughed at her self. "Oh I'm Marinette!" I replied. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you and thanks for helping out! So how long do you think you will be working here?" Alya asked. "Well maybe just for today, or tomorrow if we are in port. I just needed to earn a little extra cash for some.....friends." I replied. "Oh so your like a Pirate?" She asked with weary eyes. "Of sorts." I replied. "But don't worry, I'm not really a pirate and I won't steal. I promise."

"No it's okay. I always kind of wanted to be one. Go on adventures, see new places, meet new people. See a mermaid!! Oh that would be the life. But no in stuck here." She replied

"You want to see a mermaid?" I asked very intrigued.
"Oh yeah. I've been trying to track one but I always come up short. But a girl can dream right?"

I laughed a little at that. " you never know, they may be closer than you think." I replied

She smiled and rolled her eyes and walked out. With that I went to work.

Coming from a family of bakers, I could bake some pretty cool things. Under the ocean, my family owned a bakery. I would cook things here and there but I usually worked the money part of it. But my dad was always sure to teach me simple recipes here and there.

I got to work. Making simple little cakes, cookies, brownies, and tarts. They probably tasted different from the mermaid world but they did the trick.

"Alya I'm finished!" Shouted from the kitchen. She ran into the room. "Ooo let me see what you got girl." I handed her a little sample of everything I made. "Wow this is amazing!" She stated as she took another bite of the brownie. "Well I'm glad because now you can make them from now on. Here I wrote down the recipes on these the note cards!" I handed them to her and smiled. "Oh my gosh thanks Marinette! You are a business saver!" Alya screamed and hugged me. "Haha you're welcome." I beamed. She handed me a fairly good amount of money. I looked out the window and saw the sun was already setting. "Well I should probably get back to the ship. It's getting late." I state and start to walk out. "Wait, let me go with you. I can give you and your crew some of my signature beer. After all this place is called the Beer Blog!" Said Alya with a wink. "It's on the house." "Alya your to kind. I couldn't." "I insist." I debated about it and then finally agreed. We grabbed a few beers and started to head out of the tavern. When 5 gruesome looking men stepped in to the Alya's store. "Hello Ladies. Give us your finest. Or absolute finest if you know what I mean." The tallest man smirked. "I'll pass." I stated. "The tavern is closed." Alya said.

"I don't see a sign." Said the man. "Well in the owner and I said Get Out!" Said Alya raising her voice. "Okay, okay as the boss says. We'll see you around ladies. Especially you miss." Said the man winking at me. Nervous Sweat dripped down my spine. What was that supposed to mean. Alya and I exchanged a look. We shrugged it off. According to Alya those men came here somewhat often always causing a ruckus for her. If Alya hated them, I did to. And they didn't seem that hard to hate.

Me and Alya walked out of the tavern and toward the Chat Noir. Alya started to get giddy as we got closer. I laughed a little at this. "Well look who decided to come home. We were about to have a search party." Joked Nino and we made out way up the gang plank. "What? you thought I left you guys?" I replied. "I had the slightest idea you might of?" Said Nino with a laugh. I then stepped aside and Nino saw Alya for the first time. His face dropped and was replaced with awe. His glasses slumped on his face and we have a little smile. "Nino close your mouth, you may catch flies!" I yelled as me and Alya stepped on the top deck. Alya giggle and set the beers on the deck. She popped one open and handed it to Nino. "Here. You look thirsty." She said. I laughed while Nino's face turned a little red. I think I just found my best friend. He took the beer from her hands and gave it a swig.

"I'm Alya"
"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. I'm Nino" Said Nino with a smirk. Alya blushed, pink tinting her cheeks. Nino better be careful because I guarantee Alya could beat his ass in a matter of seconds.

The new couple found interest in eachother fairly quickly and chattered away. That's when the captain step on deck. Along with Plagg. "Here cap you look a little up tight. Have a beer!" I said while taking my first sip. It had a strange and bitter taste but it was strangely pleasant. I look a beer out of the cooler and handed it to cap. He sat next to me and looked toward Nino and Alya. "What is she doing on my ship." Asked Adrien gesturing toward Alya. "Don't worry she is harmless. I met her in town. She gave me a job so I could earn some money and maybe buy my freedom. But don't worry she doesn't know anything. She thinks I'm part of the crew." I relied. By the way this is yours." I said giving him a decintly sized bag of coins. "Well you kinda are aren't you?" Said Adrien. I looked at him confused. "I mean you do chores, you ate a few meals with the crew. From what Plagg said you have your own sleeping quarters." Said Adrien. "Wait. What are you saying?" I asked.

"I've been thinking, We won't take you to Hawkmoth. But you have to stay with us and help us earn a little money. Like you've been doing." Said Adrien with a little smile. I stare at him in awe, happy tears prick my eyes. I hug him, my arms wrapping around his shoulders. "Thank you!" I whisper into his chest.

I'm almost free!
