Smooth Sailing

The Call

Adrien's POV
"Marinette! She's in trouble!" I screamed. "What?!" Said Alya, "but I though she was safe at home. Back with her family!"

The images where foggy again. All I saw was a beaten Marinette. She was screaming for help! I needed to help her. My head was pounding and my heat was beating at an exhilarating rate. I was so anxious, sweat flowed over my brow. I needed to get out of here and find her!

"Adrien! What exactly did you see?" Asked Plagg. I breathed in an out trying to calm my beating heart and on-edge nerves. "I-I saw Marinette, a-and another older mermaid I have never met before. They were both tied up and half their bodies where in water. The one mermaid looked unconscious but Marinette was bloody and yelling for help!" I racked my brain trying to remember every detail I possibly could. I looked up from staring at my lap to find Alya in tears and both Nino and Plagg with shocked expressions. From my sitting position on the ground, I slowly stood up, leaning against the wall for support. That crazy migraine had taken a toll on me. "We need to get back to the ship." I stated, "I need to get in contact with Hawkmoth and find out what the hell is going on!"

Plagg nodded in agreement. Alya,Nino, and Plagg grabbed all our supplies we already purchased and sprinted back to the ship.

What the hell is going on?!?

Marinette's POV

Volpina. That one work gave me the chills. I quickly found out that I hated her. She would come in every so often to "check" on us. But it was more like torture.

"We just sent a little message to your boyfriend that is sure to make him ask questions." "What did you do to him?!?" I demanded. "

"You remember that little episode you gave when you were being whipped?" She giggled. I remember it very clearly. She came to "check" on us. Tikki said a few nasty words that were probably better off not being said to her. Volpina clearly didn't like it, so she was going to punish Tikki, but I told her to punish me instead. Tikki already looked half dead and she really didn't deserve that torture. During me being whipped and screamed a few words and it appears she turned my hurt and agony into a weapon. "well let's just say he saw the whole thing. It seemed to do the trick because we have his attention now." Smiled Volpina.

"Anyway, I came to give you your delightful meal." Said Volpina. Our "delightful meal" consisted of one slim,moldy, piece of bread and a small glass of water. The minimum to keep us alive. I always insisted that Tikki have my bread since she was older, and Volpina not wanting to hear my whining, accepted my request. So you could say that I have been starving for the past 3 days.

"You don't look so good Ladybug girl. You may want to see someone to fix that. It looks like our little water trap is working. You almost look dead." She laughed and walked out the door.

I feel dead.

I already new I looked horrible. My skin was a ghostly pale. I would look like a complete ghost if it wasn't for the bruises and bloody cuts that lined my stomach and arms. I felt dead. My life force was slowly draining and I felt every second of it. I would be a goner soon. Just a memory that would soon fade away. I would be at peace with that, but now Hawkmoth and Volpina had done something to Adrien. He still wasn't on board. I would have known, so that means he is still a safe distance away with the others.

I looked over at Tikki and she looked about like me. Skin pale and an empty stomach. "Marinette?" She barely said, "why do you always do that? Why do you always insist that I get your bread?! Why do you always take the beatings I deserved!?" She demanded. Tikki now had tears in her eyes. "Because I don't want to see you get hurt," I responded, " I rather it be me than you. I love you so much Tikki and couldn't bring my self to see you get so brutally hurt."

"But don't you think about what it all looks like to me? I love you too Marinette! And you don't deserve to throw you life away! It's so hard for me to see you get beaten, and slowly see you stomach shrink because you're to insistent!" Tikki was now crying. I never really thought of her point of view. Tears where forming in my teal eyes too and I couldn't hold them back. "So please, at least eat your meals." Said Tikki. I nodded as tears flowed down my cheeks. "I'm sorry Tikki." I said and gave her hug that I best could give since our arms where tied up. It pretty much consisted of intertwining our tails.
"Don't worry Tikki. We are getting out of here." I said.

The door to the decks above burst open. "Sorry to interrupt your little teary eye reunion, but we have a caller. It was Hawkmoth. The man I despised the most. He held up a large, clear circular globe that was glowing a pale yellow. It was definitely of magical origin. There seemed to be a signal coming from it. Hawkmoth. He tapped the ball, and an image appeared. "Why hello Captain Adrien, it sure is surprising to get a call from you." Said Hawkmoth. "Where is Marinette!" Demanded a voice from the globe. "Oh you must mean that measly mermaid that gives me so much trouble. Why she is right here." He said turning the screen to face me.

On the other side of that signal it was Adrien! He looked straight at me with his large green eyes. Concern and relief covered his face. "Mainette." He whispered. Volpina came around from Hawkmoth and squeezed my cheeks together. "Isn't she just precious! She quite the toy to play with!" Said Volpina.
"Why you little bitch. Get your filthy hands off her!" Adrien shouted through the screen. "You're one to talk considering you just sitting in the comfort of your ship." Said Volpina. Adrien's face was filled with anger. I wouldn't be surprised if he jumped right through the ball and knocked her out. He turned the globe to Tikki. "Mr.Plagg I know your watching, here's a familiar face you may know." Said Hawkmoth.

How did Hawkmoth know Tikki and Plagg knew each other?

Tikki's face showed utter shock as she stared into Plagg's eyes. It would make sense since she hasn't seen him in so long.

"Now Captain Adrien how about he have another meeting? How about back at Charm Rock? In 2 days? Makes thing easier for everyone." Said Hawkmoth. I struggled in my ropes. "Adrien! Adrien!" I yelled. Hawkmoth turned the orb back toward me, so Adrien could see me clearly. "No! No don't do it! Adrien don't go to the rock!" I yelled. "But Marinette we can save you!" He yelled back.

"No you don't understand! It's more than that! It's a tra-!" I tried to say. A hand appeared over my mouth. It was Volpina. She leaned over and whispered in my ear, "we don't want you ruining our little secret now do we?"

She slapped me hard on the cheek. I winced in pain. "Until then Captain Adrien." Said Hawkmoth signing off, cutting the signal.

I started to cry.

Adrien is going to die.

Adrien's POV

"Damn it!" I yelled. During the call Nino,Alya, Plagg and I were all huddled around my telecommunication globe. Plagg just looked at the floor with disgust in his face. When Plagg saw that other mermaid, pure hatred was in his eyes. He looked his he could murder someone right then and there. He gripped the table so hard it looked like he was going to break the wood. "They have Tikki." He said, "and Marinette!" He yelled.

"Oh Marinette." Said Alya. She was speaking for all of us. When I first saw Marinette, I couldn't  believe it. She looked horrible. And believe me it was hard for Mari to look horrible. When I looked into her eyes for the first time in a while, I could tell all hope was lost. Her teal blue eyes where red and puffy from crying. It tore me apart seeing her like this. Then that girl slapped her. I wanted to break the globe! I couldn't bare it. We had to save her. And we had to save this Tikki too. If she was a friend of Marinette's and Plagg's she was a friend of mine. But why was Marinette begging us not to come to her rescue? I guess she was just being her selfless self. "Nino set a course for Charm Rock! We have two days to get there!" I yelled.

Don't worry Marinette. We are coming.
