Camila's POV

Bright daylight woke me. The events that occurred last night flashed in my head and immediately, I rushed to the balcony door. Lauren's body was gone, and her balcony doors were shut. I made my way to the bathroom that was attached to my bedroom, turned on the hot water, removed my clothes and walked into the shower. The warm liquid flowed down my body relaxing my tense muscles. We romanticize heartbreak and unconditional love so much that sometimes we forget how painful it actually is. From the moment I felt my heart began to stiffen as vampire genes began rushing through my veins, I knew I was in trouble. Not because I was dying, but because I didn't care. I had Lauren, but that was before.

She used to talk about how she thought she ruined my life, but in reality, I ruined hers. Lauren was fine before she met me. Before she saved me. There is now a list of humans, witches, and vampires that are dead because I came into Lauren's life. She killed to protect me. That was not love. It was desire. Desire to be a part of something beautiful even if it ended up being toxic. It was the desire of having her in my veins. That same desire tore us apart.

I turned off the shower, and walked out. The small, pink, and fluffy tower that covered my dripping body was not big enough. I walked to my dresser, removed some clothes, but before I could drop my towel and change into it-

"Cute towel." I jumped and turned around. Her green eyes seemed to stare right through my soul.

"Thanks?" I walked towards the balcony door and began to shut it.

"You just moved in, right?" Lauren asked. She didn't remember anything that happened to us last night?

"Yes, my friend and I moved in last night, actually." I smiled, completely forgetting I was just wearing a towel.

"I'll leave you to it. Maybe I will see you around?" Lauren said.

"Definitely." I shut the doors and pulled the curtains.

-

The hard wood stairs seemed to creak with my every move. I held on to the railing and began to walk down to the kitchen. The smell of crisp bacon, and fried eggs filled the air.

"Morning!" Ally exclaimed, not turning her attention from the food.

"Good morning," I said. Ally did not seem to be angry about the argument that we had last night, but I didn't want to risk it. "Ally, about last night-"

"Don't worry about it. It was completely out of place for me to say some of the things that I told you–I'm sorry." I looked down the the counter.

"Can we just forget about anything and everything that happened last night?" I asked. Ally turned off the stove, and put the food on two plates.

"Not everything, no." Ally placed a plate in front of me, and I thanked her.

"What?" I asked.

"You already know what would happened you made physical contact with Lauren. Let's try to avoid that, okay? We need to protect her, and slowly, you make your way back into her life and begin giving her small doses of her memory back. Her memory is her worst enemy right now." I sighed.

"I mean we are going to share the same classes, it's practically impossible for us to not have physical contact at all, don't you think?" I said as I took a piece of bacon in my mouth.

"Of course, but it only happens after a few seconds of contact. Her memory is powered with your heartbeat." Ally told me. I got up and walked towards the refrigerator, and removed the orange juice from one of the shelves.

"O.J?" I asked, Ally nodded. "What time are we supposed to be in school anyway?" I asked.

"What time is it?"

"It's Seven twenty seven." I said.

"In about an hour and three minutes." I laughed.

"And three minutes." I mocked her voice. "Wait, I have a question." Ally looked at me.

"Yeah?"

"How will I know who Lucy is? Do you have like a picture of her or something?"

"Trust me, I won't have to tell you. You'll know when you see her." Ally said.

-

As Ally drove through the crowded parking lot, my eyes scanned the premises for any signs of the green eyes girl that had made my life have purpose. When the car stopped moving and I realized Ally had parked it.

"Please, Annalise your surrounding because we have the last few classes apart, and I have no idea where anything is yet." I nodded. "It's weird, I've never been to school and I'm starting college today." Ally told me.

"How did we even get in at such a short notice?" I asked.

"The headmaster is friends with Liam."

"Of course he is." I said. Ally looked down at the clock.

"Yay,It's Time for art!" She exclaimed.

"I have absolutely no artistic talent. At all." Ally smirked. She opened her purse and removed a black wooden box, and handed it to me. Curious as to what was inside, I opened it. Three silver stained pencils were inside.

"Those should help." Ally told me. "Just let the pencil take control and you'll be fine." I nodded and unbuckled my seatbelt, opened the car door and walked out. The day was gray and the clouds looked heavy.

"It smells like pimple cream and sex." I snorted at Ally's comment and let her lead the way to the art classroom.

The halls were beginning to empty, and last minute students stumbled through the halls, trying to get to class. I laugh at the memory of Normani and I doing the exact same thing almost a year ago when I was still human. The last time I saw the girl was the night before I was bitten by Lauren.

"This is it." Ally motioned towards a door opposite from the two of us. My heart began to pump louder and faster in anger at the thought of seeing the witch that was willing to hurt my girlfriend without hesitation.

Was Lauren still my girlfriend? We didn't break up before she was cleared, but she has no memory of my existence prior to this morning either way. I was snapped out of my thoughts when Ally pulled me by the hand and we both entered the classroom. I immediately found Lauren, and I instantly knew that the girl sitting next to her was Lucy.
