It was late, much later than Aubrey was supposed to be up. Her thoughts were tangled and confusing. She was overwhelmed by how overcoming her thoughts of him were. Aubrey’s fingertips longed to record her thoughts and hopefully unravel what they meant. She finally succumbed to the desire and got out of bed to begin to write. Aubrey felt the familiar release as she began….
Streams of lights shone through her blinds, waking her. She sat up groggily and groaned quietly. Her lack of rest clouded her thoughts, but she didn’t regret her decision to stay up and write. Sighing she tucked her journal away in her backpack and walked to the bathroom. Looking into the mirror her imperfect self focused on the flaws that became more prominent the longer she stared. Aubrey felt defeated as she turned and twisted the handle to the shower. As the droplets fell down on her she pushed the thoughts out of her mind because she knew there was little she could do to change it.
She pulled a white, chiffon blouse with petite flowers attached to the material from her closet. It made her feel pretty, when she doubted that the most. After she finished applying blush and a slightly metallic light colored eye shadow she shut the door, turned the lights off and gaited to her car. Her mood continued to brighten, the closer she got to school. Will he notice the time I spent getting ready this morning? She wondered feeling anxious as she ran a hand through her recently curled hair.
After pulling into the school’s lot she rose from the driver’s seat and glanced to her right to find Harry chatting with Louis Tomlinson. Aubrey stared openly at the lads as Louis made a remark that made Harry’s beautiful dimples pop out as he laughed. Looking down at the gravel she smiled to herself, replaying the way his gorgeous green orbs lightened when he chuckled. Aubrey realized she was beyond the point of trying to avert having feelings for him, she already did.
Aubrey waited what seemed like ages for her to have English. While waiting for the passing time to end she stood around Lilly’s desk with Marie as usual. The girls conversed about their plans to sleep over at Lilly’s place the next night.
“I was thinking we could watch The Notebook. You’ve both seen it before right?” Aubrey questioned lightly assuming she knew the answer.
“No,” Lilly said meeting Aubrey’s gaze evenly.
At the same time Marie replied as she rolled her eyes, “Who hasn’t?” Aubrey and Marie hunch over as they laughed. They only straightened up when they saw Lilly’s sour expression.
“How have y-” Aubrey cut off mid-sentence as Harry strode into the classroom. She gulped and attempted to make sense of her now scattered thoughts. “Um…” Lilly turned around in her desk and Marie looked over to the other side of the room seeking the source of Aubrey’s distraction. “Mari, Lil!” She tried to prevent them from continuing to stare in a hushed voice.
“Oh,” Lilly replied simply in an innocent tone, with her eyebrows raised and a smirk on her face.
“It’s nothing! Like I was starting to say before: how have you survived this long without seeing The Notebook?” Aubrey questioned Lilly without as much vitality as she had originally intended. Despite the conversation turning to different topics, Aubrey knew her friends wouldn’t let this go until she explained herself. The only problem was Aubrey wasn’t quite sure what was going on herself.
