She was mentally drained. Aubrey collapsed into bed and was pulled into unconsciousness almost immediately. Pleasant dreams unwound in front of her closed eyes. All of those dreams revolved around the curly haired boy she adored.
She dreamt of his lean figure laying beside her and his raspy voice cooing to her. Aubrey burst out laughing when he attempted to tell her a knock knock joke. "That was dreadful!" She exclaimed.
"You laughed, didn't you?" He smirked at her.
"Only because it was so horrid, it was comical!" She exclaimed.
"You still laughed!" He said defensively. Aubrey laughed the way that made your stomach hurt at the expression on Harry's face. Still unconscious, she turned to get closer to Harry and absorb his warmth.
She reached for him, but only felt the cotton sheets. Her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance and she opened her eyes. Her mind was fuddled and it took her a moment to reorient herself. Harry wasn't there. He was gone visiting his uncle.
She groaned noisily. Her discontent was already apparent. After remaining in bed for a considerable amount of time she reached for her phone and dialed Lilly number. "Hey Lil. Can we hang out today?" Aubrey knew things wouldn't end well if she was left alone with her thoughts.
"Yeah, sure girly."
"Can we go out? I can't sit in this house much longer."
"Let's go do some shopping."
"Perfect." Aubrey drove to the mall ruminating.
Awkward people truly are the best people in the world. They're endearing and charming in their awkwardness. My awkwardness is not like that at all. Harry telling his bloody knock knock jokes is the most adorable thing I've ever witnessed. His eyes dance when he tells them and most the time he doesn't notice when he's the only one who laughs. God I miss him.
She stepped out into the windy atmosphere, determinedly pushing Harry out of her mind for the time being. Aubrey heard her name being called from across the store as soon as she pushed open the door. "Hello." She greeted quietly.
"Hiya hun! I feel like we haven't talked in ages!"
"We're here now, eh?" Aubrey replied rather cheekily.
"Oh shut it." She turned dramatically and tugged Aubrey behind her. Aubrey rolled her eyes at her friend.
"Where do you want to go first?"
"That place looks really hot." Aubrey joked. Clothes were streamed all over the store. Funky patterns covered oddly designed clothing.
Lilly laughed, "That it does." They ventured into the mess of a store and ambled through it, looking through every article of clothing.
"Lilly!" Aubrey exclaimed excitedly, "This is perfect for you! It really embodies your personality." She held a teeny cheetah print dress up to show Lilly.
"You're really a cheeky little thing, aren't you?" She grinned and ripped the dress out of Aubrey's hand. "And I will rock this dress, thank you very much." Aubrey chuckled at Lilly's confident matter, despite how hideous the dress was.
"Come on Lil! Hurry up!" She came out with a hand on her hip, "Hot, I know." She winked. Aubrey hunched over hysterically laughing. "Oh that's fierce alright!" Tears escaped from her screwed shut eyes as she continued to laugh. When Lilly began to strut Aubrey collapsed in a laughing heap. Her stomach and throat hurt from the chuckles she emitted in an exceedingly pleasant way. "You're bloody crazy!"
