Harry groaned and rolled over. He laid on his bed wearing only boxers. He felt restless and befuddled thinking of Aubrey. Why would someone like her, want you? He thought. Self-doubt was torturing him. Truthfully he didn’t know why Aubrey liked him in the first place. Harry missed her like mad over the weekend.

He missed the way she blushed scarlet when she caught him staring at her. He yearned to see her lips curve into her stunning smile once more. He noticed she would bite her lip when she was concentrated and color would rush back into them when she stopped, making them so kissable. When she was unsure of herself she looked down at the ground, making him want nothing more than to lift her chin, kiss every part of her face, and whisper in her ear everything he loved about her.

Sleep didn’t find him until he thought of seeing Aubrey the next day. The following morning he stood in front of his closet staring blankly at the clothes hanging before him. He wanted to wear something to impress Aubrey but he was at a loss. “Mum! Could you come here please?”

“What do you need sweetie?” His mother asked as she appeared in the doorway.

“If I wanted to look a bit nicer today, what should I wear?”

Handing him a pair of trousers and a blazer she asked, “What’s the occasion?”

“Uh…nothing really.”

“Hm,” She smiled knowingly but let the subject drop. He changed and rushed out the door, calling a goodbye to his mum on the way.

Harry was only half-listening to Liam rambling on as he stood in the parking lot. He scanned the lot. Aubrey, he surprised himself with the warmth in his tone as he thought her name when he saw her. “Are you alright mate?” Liam asked.

“Yeah, yeah sorry. Hey, I’ll see you later. I’ve got to do something.”

“Whatever you say.”

When he was near enough to her he said with a goofy grin on his face, “Hey love.”

“Hello. You look fit today.” Aubrey flushed as she said this.

“And you look beautiful, as always.” The color in her cheeks deepened. Her insides fluttered. He rested one arm on the brick wall Aubrey leaned against and kissed her, pulling her waist towards him. Her lips molded to his and when they broke apart he smiled crookedly.

“Can I walk you to class?”

“Please.” She grinned. He entwined Aubrey’s fingers with his own as they walked. “So what did you do last night?” She questioned.

“Just hung out and sorted through some old music. What about you?”

“Marie came over and we watched a film together.”

“What film?”

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, It’s one of my favorites.”

“I haven’t seen that one before.”

“It’s lovely. It means a lot to me.”

“We should watch it together sometime.” Aubrey’s heart warmed when she saw how hopeful he was.

“Do you want to come over after school? We could watch it then.” She offered.

“Is that ok? I know you’ve just seen it. I would like to....”

“That would be perfect.” She reassured.

“I better be off, see you soon.” He pecked Aubrey on the cheek and walked to his class.

Harry sat with his arm wrapped around her shoulders and Aubrey had her arm bent so she could hold the hand that dangled off her shoulder as they watched the movie. As Patrick, Sam, and Charlie drove through the tunnel Harry rasped the lyrics seemingly absently, “We can be heroes, forever and ever, what d’you say?”

“You know this song?” Surprise clear in Aubrey’s tone.

“Yeah, I like listening to older songs.”

“The score for this movie is brilliant.” He smiled in response. When Sam kisses Charlie for the first time Aubrey started crying, as she knew she would. Harry kissed her cheek and wiped the tears away.

“I like you best this way.”

“What way?” A few more tears managed to escape.

“When you’re raw and open like this.”

“I like myself best this way too.” The regret in Aubrey’s voice was evident to Harry.

After a moment of gazing at her he quoted, “‘You are so busy being you that you have no idea how utterly unprecedented you are.’”

“You read it?!” Aubrey exclaimed, immediately perking up.

“Yes, I did.” Harry chuckled. The sun set long before they said their goodbyes that night.

*Author’s Note: The blazer I pictured Harry wearing is on the side (throwback to the Up All Night tour). I quite fancy him wearing it;) Who’s listened to Midnight Memories? I love it! Some of the songs make me feel pretty fierce. Anyways vote and comment babes! Xo*
