"Why don't you go to sleep for a while, eh?" He looked incredibly drained. His cheeks were flushed and eyes red from crying. He nodded and made his way across the room. He crawled under the covers and laid facing the wall. Aubrey sat down on a chair opposite his sleeping form. She believed he had already fallen asleep when he spoke, "Thank you, Aubrey. For everything." Moments later soft snores escaped him.

Aubrey had her legs laid over the arm of the chair. Haunting thoughts protruded her mind. She couldn’t focus on anything, despite attempting to distract herself with her phone. Giving up, she returned her phone to her pocket and curled into herself. Soon she drifted to sleep.

Aubrey opened her eyes again to find Niall thrashing under the numerous blankets. He whimpered quietly. "Niall?" Aubrey spoke, her mind still hazy with sleep. He remained unconscious. "No!" He bellowed. "Niall!" Aubrey tried again, rising from the chair as she called. Still he was lost in his nightmare. She cautiously gripped his arm. His eyes fluttered open. His eyebrows furrowed, as he tried to make sense of his surroundings, and a sheen of sweat covered his face. "You're ok. You were dreaming." He exhaled heavily and nodded.

He pulled Aubrey down to lay next to him. Her close proximity comforted him. They lay facing each other. Niall reached out to brush Aubrey's hair away from her face. She winced involuntarily as his finger tips brushed her cheek. She realized how incredibly close they were to each other. She wanted to be there for him, but his nearness was making her uncomfortable. He pulled himself away and wrapped his arms around his legs. Aubrey mimicked his position. "Sorry," He muttered.

"No, no that was my fault. I overreacted." She cleared her throat and didn't meet his gaze. Her whole body felt flushed.

Embarrassment washed  over her, he hadn't done anything wrong. She'd always been sensitive about people touching her. She had to be really comfortable around the person before their closeness was comforting. Her family wasn't one to hug nor kiss each other and that was instilled on her. She'd only really been close to Harry, occasionally her friends would do each others' hair but that was pretty much the only contact Aubrey had with people.

Niall apologized multiple times and looked guilty. That just made Aubrey feel worse. Her reaction was completely irrational. She reassured him it was fine.

That night Aubrey made Niall a CD with a single song on it: "Blue Skies" by Noah and the Whales. The song had given her strength and hope. On the cover she wrote, One day things won't be this hard and everything won't remind you of her. You don't have to forget but understand "blue skies are coming." Make them happen for yourself. She signed it with a heart. The next day at school she slipped it in his locker for him to find. That evening she got a text from Niall saying simply, Thank you. And she understood.
