52: Anniversary

[It's the end of the day on Friday and Riley and Maya are walking home from school together.]

"Hey, Riles, is it okay if I sleep over at your house tonight?" Maya asks.

"Of course," Riley happily agrees.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of when Riley and Maya officially started dating, and Riley has been doing her best to contain her excitement.

Farkle has convinced Riley over this last week that she shouldn't do anything special. Riley was wary of his idea at first, but she soon realized that Maya was probably planning a big date and Farkle was just covering for her.

"So what do you want to do tomorrow?" Riley asks.

"I don't wake up and watch a movie or something," Maya shrugs.

"She is really good at hiding surprises," Riley thinks to herself. "But knowing Maya, she surely has something really romantic planned for the day."

The two spend the majority of the night talking in the bay window, before they fall asleep.

The following morning Maya slowly stirs awake. She opens her eyes to reveal Riley, wide awake, who appears to have been watching her sleep.

"Morning, Peaches!" Riley exclaims.

"Well, good morning to you too," Maya yawns. "How long have you been up?"

"I don't know. A couple hours?" Riley questions herself.

"Were you watching me sleep the whole time?"

"Hey, who can blame me. You look cute when you're asleep."

Maya laughs. "Awe, thanks, Honey," she says, before kissing the brunette's cheek.

"So what do you want to do today?" Riley asks. "We have the house to ourselves for a while. My parents and Auggie are out running errands."

"I thought we agreed on watching a movie?"

"Oh, yeah I forgot," Riley responds disappointed, as she had hoped that Maya had planned something else.

"Don't worry, Riley, it's only the beginning of the day," the brunette assures herself.

"So what movie do you want to watch?" Maya asks.

"Hmm," Riley hums, as she thinks for a minute. "I know one, but I don't think you'd like."

"Is it 'Farm Animals Save the Day?'"

"Maybe," Riley shyly responds.

"Fine, we can watch it," Maya playfully rolls her eyes, as a smile appears on her face.

"Yay!" Riley excitedly shouts.

"You get the movie ready and I'll go find some snacks in the kitchen."

Maya comes back with her hands full of food and joins Riley on the couch.

"What snacks did you get?" Riley eagerly asks.

"I made us some popcorn and I also found some licorice," Maya answers.

"Woah, we never have licorice," Riley states, as she admires the treat.

"Maybe someone bought it just for you," Maya says.
