"Now I believe both of the brides have prepared their own vows."
"Okay," Maya sighs to get rid of her nerves. "Riles, since the day I first crawled through the bay window when we were seven, I knew I wanted you to be my best friend. Since the day you pushed the subway door back open to save our friendship when we were in seventh grade, I realized I was in love with you. Since the day we started dating nearly four years, I hoped that one day I would get to marry you. Today? Today is the day that finally happens. I walked into your room eleven years broken, but you fixed me. You gave me hope. Thank you for helping me have hope in myself. Thank you for helping me have hope in us, because us is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Riley wipes away a tear that fell down her cheek.
"Mine is more of a poem," Riley states.
"I've been waitin',
For a day like this to come,
Struck like lightnin',
My heart's beating like a drum,
On the edge of something wonderful.Face to face with changes,
What's it all about?
Life is crazy,
But I know I can work it out,
Cause' I got you to live it with me.I feel all right, I'm gonna take on the world,
Light up the stars, I've got some pages to turn,
I've got a ticket to the top of the sky,
I'm comin' up, I'm on the ride of my life."Riley pauses to smile at Maya before continuing, "let's take on the world. Our world."
"Without further ado," The minister starts. "Do you, Riley Matthews, take Maya Hart-Hunter to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," Riley answers.
Maya takes Riley's friendship ring off of her right hand and moves it to her left ring finger.
The minister turns towards Maya. "Do you, Maya Hart-Hunter, take Riley Matthews to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," Maya responds.
Riley slips Maya's friendship ring off of her right hand and then onto her left ring finger.
"Then by the power vested inside of me, by the State of New York, I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may now kiss your bride!"
Riley and Maya share a short, yet passionate kiss. As they pull away, they both have smiles on their faces.
"Ring power," Riley says just loud enough for only Maya to hear her, as she lifts up her left hand. "Thunder."
"Lightning," Maya adds, intertwining her left hand with Riley's. "For the rest of our lives."
"Ladies and gentleman," the minister announces, "for the first time ever may I present to you, Mrs. and Mrs. Matthews-Hart-Hunter."
