[Skip forward several weeks. Riley has been seeing a therapist a couple of times a week ever since her parents found out about her self harm. Story picks back up Christmas morning.]

"Maya... Maya... Maya," Riley quietly repeats, as she gently rocks the girl awake.

"Huh?" Maya says, as she flutters her eyes open.

"Wake up, Peaches, it's Christmas!"

"Ugh, five more minutes," Maya moans, as she rolls over, burying her face into her pillow.

"Maya, come-" Riley starts before she is interrupted.

"Riley! Maya!" Auggie yells, as he barges into his older sister's room. "Get up! It's Christmas morning, let's go open presents."

Auggie hops onto the bed and starts jumping up and down. "Come on, sleepyheads, wake up."

"Hey, I'm already awake," Riley defends herself. "It's her you need to talk to."

"Maya! Get up!" The boy demands.

"Okay, okay. I'll be right there," she finally agrees, though her voice is muffled through the pillow.

"Yay," Auggie exclaims, as he runs back out to the living room.

Despite what she said, Maya doesn't move.

"Maya, don't you want to open presents?" Riley asks.

Maya finally brings her head up from the pillow. "It's Christmas morning, right?"

"Well yeah. Did you not hear Auggie screaming a couple of minutes ago?"

"And this is real life and not a dream, right?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is anyway," Riley answers with a laugh."

"And we're dating?"

Riley smiles and shakes her head in agreement.

"Then that's the best gift I could ever ask for," Maya replies.

Riley blushes, with the smile still on her face and Maya takes the chance to lean in and peck the brunette's soft lips.

The blonde gets out of the bed and holds her hand out for Riley. "Come on, sleepyhead, they are all waiting on us," Maya mocks.

Riley takes the blonde's hand and playfully rolls her eyes and the two head out to the living room.

"Good morning, girls," Topanga greets them.

"Merry Christmas," Cory adds. "I'm sorry that you couldn't have your first Christmas together with your family, Maya."

"It's fine. I'm sure my mom and Shawn are having lots of fun on their late honeymoon. Plus, I love spending time with you guys."

"That's so sweet," Auggie sarcastically states. "Now it's present time people!"

Nearly all of the presents have been opened and the five are surrounded by piles of wrapping paper.

Riley and Maya decide to exchange their gifts for each other.

"You can open your present first," Maya offers.

Riley unwraps her gift and opens up a small jewelry box.

"It's a necklace," Riley exclaims.

"With a heart on it," Maya adds, taking the necklace out of the box and putting it on the brunette. "Because you have mine."

Riley admires the jewelry around her neck, "thank you, Maya. It's beautiful."

"Anything for you."

"Now open mine," Riley says, handing Maya a box.

Maya opens the gift, revealing a silver bracelet that says, "Riley + Maya."

Maya puts it on. "Thanks, Riles. I love it," Maya says before embracing Riley in a hug.

"Okay, not to interrupt or anything, but Topanga and I have one last gift for the three of you," Cory states.

"You guys didn't have to get me anything," Maya says.

"No, but we wanted to," Topanga assures her, handing Maya the last of the three envelopes from her hands.

At the same time the three kids open their own envelope.

"A piece of paper?" Auggie asks, rather disappointed.

"It's a plane ticket..." Maya starts.

"To Florida," Riley finishes.

"Eight days and seven nights. Just the five of us at Disney World," Topanga smiles.

"We leave on the first Saturday of Spring Break," Cory adds.

"Really?" The three say in unison.

The adults nod.

"Yay," Riley and Auggie exclaim, jumping up and engulfing their parents in a hug.

Maya soon joins in and mouths, "thank you."

Cory and Topanga both nod with a grin.

[Fast forward to New Years Eve. Riley and Maya are alone on the apartment's roof.]

"Here we are. Only a couple of minutes until the new year," Maya says. "Just think, last year things were so different."

"Yep," Riley replies.

"I'm glad it turned out to be you and me."

Riley nods, "it's almost time."

The two count down in unison. "Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One."

Maya turns to Riley and the two share a kiss.

"Happy New Year," Maya says, resting her head on the brunette's shoulder.

The two sit in silence for a few minutes, as they watch the fireworks go off in the distance.

"Maya?" Riley asks.

"Yeah?"

"I think we need a break."
