Chapter 14: "Not Us"

L O R I

Dark. That's all I could see. I put my hand out in front of me, but I couldn't see it at all. Suddenly a light beamed from above. I squinted at first, but as I looked around, the sight was horrible.

I was on the ground, hands attached to cuffs which were affixed to the ground. Michael was passed out in a chair in the next room. Rose and Star stood there, whispering quietly. Rose noticed I was awake and smiled evilly.

"Rise and shine, Lori. How you feeling? Okay? I hope so, because you'll need a lot of energy for what's happening next."

Sweat grew on my forehead. "W-where are the others? What did you do to them?" I shouted, struggling against my holdings. Rose cackled. "Nothing. Your precious little friends are fine. But soon they won't be."

Rose pulled out a knife from her waistband. She flicked it and the blade appeared from the handle. It was red with blue paint splatters, a sign that it was made to kill vampires. "Soon, Michael will be dead. Only if you disobey me."

I shook my head. "You're sick. Both of you! How could you do this, betray your friends like that... Y-you deserve to die, not us!" Rose rolled her eyes and put the knife up to Michael's throat. "At least he'll die in his sleep, right?"

I looked to Yano. She was looking down at the ground, not saying anything. I knew she didn't want to do this. She was just scared.

Rose cleared her throat. "Ahem! Lori! Are you even listening? Michael could die." I looked her straight in the eye, jaw locked. "Oh really? Are you happening to forget that we vampires have super strength, or incredible speed, or healing powers?" Rose rolled her eyes. "No, that's why I vampire-proofed everything, duh."

Yano look to me and I gave her the tiniest nod. She slowly pulled a knife out of her pocket, similar to Rose's. She then quickly pulled Rose into a choke hold. "This is for controlling me, and torturing my friends." She growled. She took the knife and sliced Rose's throat before Rose could even react. Her victim fell to the ground, dead.

Yano ran over to me from the room she was in and unlocked my chains with a key. I rubbed my wrist and ran over to Michael, helping Yano get him out of his bindings. By the time we were finished he was awake, and he blinked opened his eyes slowly.

"L-Lori? Where am I? What happened?" He asked groggily. I kissed him briefly. "N-no time to explain.. But thank god you're okay. Come on, no time to waste."

Yano led us out of the room and we ran down the corridors of the building we were in. We stopped at a door and Yano opened it for us to see blood. Blood everywhere.

Tears brimmed in my eyes. It was too late. Destiny's lifeless body lay in a pool of her own blood, her throat slit and her stomach torn to shreds. I buried my head in Michael's chest as Yano walked over to Destiny. "I'm sorry." She said quietly. We both stepped out of the room and let the door shut behind us. We walked down the hall silently and stopped at another door. Yano opened it and we saw Luke and Ashton strapped to chairs.

They were both still conscious, but barely clinging onto life. Blood was all over both of their clothing, and the sight was too much for me. I ran out of the room before I knew what was happening. I tripped and fell, seemingly over nothing. I was plunged into darkness once again.
