A hand in the dark

After Sam left I had spent the rest of the disco at the car park.

Kaisy.

He remembered the nickname.

And I remembered his.

Sammy.

What is it with adding a 'y' to the end of a name and it suddenly sounding cuter?

My parents had come to pick me up at 9.30 sharp. Just like they had promised.

I couldn't be happier for that, it would be really awkward watching Laurel and Sam making goo goo eyes at each other while Char asked me where I was the whole night.

I'd explain in the morning.

I had to put on a fake smile for my parents. It would kill them if they knew how hurt I was, and if they found out about the whole Sam issue they would be so disappointed.

And I can't do that to them.

Once we got home I announced that I was too full to eat, even though I was starving, and went upstairs to my bed.

I couldn't sleep.

You know how when a suitcase is too full and it won't close no matter what you do?

Well my eyes were too full with tears to close.

You'd think that I'd stop crying by now. That I'd move on.

But I can't.

It's easy to say that you can move on but when you're pit in the situation yourself then it's a whole other story.

Unless your a slut.

But I'm not a slut.

When I love someone, then that's it. I can't stop loving someone no matter how hard I try, I will always care.

No one can do anything about it.

No one.

I grabbed my phone from my bedside table.

The light was pretty blinding as I turned it on.

I squinted my eyes as I scrolled through my playlist.

I plugged in my earphones as I listened to the guitar strum softly.

Taylor swift. Everything has changed.

I liked the song.

All I know as you held out the door, you'll be mine and I'll be yours....

I realized that I was humming.

I hate it when songs get to you.

And then came the bridge.

And meet me there tonight, and let me know that it's not all in my mind!

I cut off Taylor's voice as I removed the earphones.

The song was still playing....I didn't bother to pause it.

That was all I've ever wanted.

For him to tell me that it's not all in my mind.

That everything I remembered wasn't pointless, that he remembered it too.

Everything.

One last tear rolled down my face. It was from the left eye, so it was of pain. But you already knew that...didn't you?

My eyelids gently closed, it wasn't long till I was asleep.

"Catch me if you can!" Yelled Sammy from behind me

"Sammy we've been playing forever, please let me catch you!" My feet were hurting and Axel was being really mean

"Kaisley can't catch her boyfriend!"

"Shut up Axel, you're such a big meanie!"

"And you're a big crybaby!"

"Hey! You can't talk to her like that!" Said Sammy

"Well of course you'd defend her," said Axel

"I-I'm not defending her, I-I'm just sticking up for what's right"

"Oh so suddenly you're a superhero Sammy?" Said Axel with a smile

"What's your problem Axel? Just because you're the new kid doesn't mean that you can talk to us however you want to!" Said Sammy

"Ya Axel, first you call Norm a fatty and now you're coming after us!" I said red cheeked

"Well excuse me if no one will talk to me," said Axel grumpily

"Ya because you're mean to everyone!"

"No I'm not! I wasn't mean at the beginning and none of you wanted to be my friends, no one even talked to me....it's because I'm from West Virginia and not Wisconsin isn't it!"

"No it's not!" Said me and Sammy at the same time

"Then why!?"

Me and Sammy didn't know what to say, we just shuffled our feet one the ground awkwardly. Axel was right, we were mean to him first.

"Hey Axel?" I said quietly, " if you promise to be nice to us, then you can be our friend"

"What!?" Said Sammy

"Come on Sammy, he deserves it after we treated him badly"

"Kaisy you just want to be his friend because you like him better than me, don't you!?"

"NO! Nothing will ever come in between us, you're my best friend!"

"Okay"

"So I can play with you guys?" Said Axel

"Yes you can, hey why don't we play netball!" I suggested

Sam and Axel scrunched their noses at me, "netball!"

"Ya...is there something wrong?" I said quietly

"Ya! It's way too girly, we want to play something more action packed!"

"Like what?"

"Like a police hijackers!" Said Sammy excitedly

"Wow that's so cool dude!" Said Axel as he high fives Sammy

"But I don't like that game...." I said

"Well if you don't like it then you can play with Jessica and her friends," said Sammy.

I turned to where Jessica and Conny were playing netball. It looked way more fun than this stupid game.

"Well I guess it you don't mind....." But they were already gone when I turned around.
"Hmph! Boys are useless!"

With that I ran off to the netball court, ready to shoot.

Hey guys! A pretty short chapter but it does clear up on how exactly Sam and Kaisley got distant. Yes blame it all on Axel. If only they had played netball everything would be okay......
Or maybe Axel and Kaisley would have gotten close and the married each other in the future. Ya cue the gags.
Anyway continue reading, still lots more to come.
