The area behind the squash court was pretty small. It's was blanketed in a carpet of wilting grass embroiled with tufts of weeds that no one deemed important to pull out. A brick wall surrounded the lawn and the only opening was a rusting, iron gate that had seen better days. Why would anyone come here? Well there was a small shack tucked into a corner between two brick walls. The shack had some sports equipment that could be used by the students in free time. The good quality sports equipment was for lessons or inter school competitions.

Sam was always the one that got a remotely blown up football so that the guys could play a game during lunch. My ankles suddenly began to tickle with anticipation. I d avoided Sam ever since the plane issue and he probably thought that I wasn't interested anymore. He'd tried to talk to me for the first week but when I was pretty adamant on keeping my silence, he pretty much gave up.

This made maths lessons even more awkward that they were already, that and Mr Wallace kept on giving me death glares because I was partially responsible for the disabling of Sam's nose. But it had healed...so he should get over it.

Little did he know that I was going to be here waiting when he opened the tetanus infected gate.

I still felt bad about Oliver though. He was no longer in my maths class because Mr Wallace demoted him to the lower class after he called him a "danger to the other students." But honestly Wallace was the only one who was scared of Oliver. Teachers and their egos though.

Oliver wasn't talking to me anymore. He wouldn't even look at me, and it really hurt. I did care about him and seeing him like this was heart breaking.

The screech of the gate opening shook me out of my thoughts.

"I'll get the football but I forgot to get the keys from coach! Run and get them Axel would you!?"

I could hear Axels detached voice complaining but I wasn't focused on him right now. Sam's brown eyes looked up, I could see the surprise.

"Kaisley?"

"Hey Sam"

I ran my hand through my loose black hair uncomfortably. We weren't allowed to keep our hair loose but I didn't give a shit. And anyway, teachers loved me, Wallace excluded.

"What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here- sorry habit! Of course I know why you're here!" Yah I was blabbering

"Yah...um....I thought that you didn't want to talk to me..."

"What!? No! I mean yah I didn't but now I do...I mean why else would I be here? I suck at football and even more at hockey, but I'm good at netball and badminton and-"

"Kais!"

"Huh?"

"You're blabbering"

"Oh yah...I guess I am"

He smiled in an amused manner, "you really haven't changed a bit have you"

"Is that good or bad?" I wasn't very sure

"Good"

"Yay"

"So did you think about what I said?"

"Of course I did"

"And?"

"Yes!"

His response was quick, before I knew it I had the thing that wanted most in the world.
One, sincere, loving hug. I don't know how long we stood there, arms wrapped around each other. The distant shouts and chatter of students mixed in with the tweets of the birds that inhabited the forest that surrounded the field.

I understood it there and then. It wasn't about waiting for the perfect moment, it was about taking the moment and making it perfect. And that was what was happening right now.

Sam pulled away, but he still held me, his brown eyes pierced me so hard, I could feel myself getting redder. It was happening.

He leaned in, eyes slowly closing.

"Hey Sam where's the ball!? What the fu-"

We pulled away from each other instantaneously, I know that I turned an unusual shade of red. Sam was blushing too, not as fiercely but it was visible.

Axel why the hell did you have to come now!?

"Oh my gosh!!!! We're you two canoodling!?"

"No!" Sam and I said a bit too defensively

Sam cleared his throat, "well we were getting somewhere before you barged in"

"Sorry dude. Oh my gosh wait till everyone hears about this! Sam and Kaiser Kaisley sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-"

"What are you, seven years old!?" I said as I rolled my eyes

"Well I have retained my youthful glow," said Axel as he flexed his muscles

"Hardly...and Axel don't embarrass yourself by flexing...its just sad"

"What are you talking about! My muscles are beautiful!"

"What muscles!?" Said Sam and I

"These bad boys," said Axel pointing at his biceps

"Those are muscles? I thought that it was a mosquito bite," said Sam as we both burst out laughing

"Ha ha very funny," grumbled Axel, "they're bigger that a mosquito bite, you guys could have at least given me wasp attack or something"

"Sorry bro, allow"

"Whatever. Anyway....you two are a thing now"

Sam put his arm around me as he pulled me closer,"yah we are,"

Cue the goofy smile

"I knew you two were perfect for each other. I have no problem with this but I better not be third wheeling round you two"

"You won't bro"

"Good, bros before hoes"

"Hey!? In what universe am I a hoe!?"

"Sorry Kaiser, but this is the second guy you've dated in a month"

"Shut up Axel, she's over him...right?" Sam looked at me expectantly

"Is that even a question?" I replied with a smile, Oliver made Sam nervous, it was no secret. Am I a horrible person to like the fact that he got jealous? Nah.

"Well Sam are you gonna come or what?" Asked Axel

"Well um..." He looked at me as if asking for permission

"You're such an idiot asking for permission like that. Go!"

He beamed and gave me a peck on the cheek

"Ew guys, no PDA"

"Funny that this makes you uncomfortable considering how you binge watch porn every other day," I said slyly

"Dude you got burned," said Sam in between gasps of laughter

"I don't watch porn!" Yelled Axel

"Sure you don't"

Before Axel could reply, Sam pulled him away, "come on dude your secrets out"

I could hear Axel grumble something. I shook my head, as much as Axel did take Sam away a from me he was a nice guy. I was looking forward to chilling with their ratchet squad.

I had everything that I wanted.

This was going to be perfect.

Did I jinx it? Nah.
