"At this point we're questioning persons of interest, and we're looking for Miss Patterson's ex-boyfriend, Tyler O'Neil."

My dad pursed his lips over the computer screen, letting out a heavy sigh at the name of the boy I'd been friends with since I was a kid, who had also turned out to be a possible killer. I could tell he'd been stressed because of the entire Tyler situation, he was trying to be fair to me but do his job at the same time, he didn't want to a arrest the boy who'd always been so kind to me but he had to follow the law, it was his job.

"If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please call the hotline number on the screen. Thank you."

Riley and I simultaneously reached across, our hands brushing as we closed the laptop. "So Tyler did it?" She spoke, "For reals?"

"Has your dad said anything?" Jake nudged the side of my foot with his own.

"He said they've found evidence to say that Tyler killed Nina, he wouldn't tell me much... but personally he doesn't want to think that Tyler did it, he's always been a good guy..."

"Not always." Jake mumbled, then it was my turn to kick his foot.

"Em's mom worked the scene." Will interrupted, "Tell them what you heard."

"A neighbour saw Tyler's car parked out front around the time that Nina was killed. There was no sign of forced entry and his fingerprints were found on a glass in the kitchen. Now his foster parents can't find him. Nobody can."

"When he was dating Nina they were always at each other's throats but how could he do that?"

"Maybe he didn't but then again, if he hadn't have done it somebody would've eventually." I took a gulp from Riley's can of Dr. Pepper.

"Lydia, that's morbid." Jake scolded

"Not as morbid as your hair."

"I love it when you get feisty." He winked, all the while I gagged.

For a few small moments everybody was silent and I could tell we were all silently asking ourselves the same question; Did Tyler really kill Nina? Or was it somebody else?

"Do you think one keg will be enough?" Brooke was the first to break the silence.

"Do you really think a party's a good idea tonight, Brooke?"

"It's a prayer vigil." She let out a annoyed scoff, "people in mourning get thirsty."

"It's not exactly the best place either. A party? At the lake? At night?" I raised an eyebrow, "Come on! It's the perfect slasher setting. Somebody's bound to end up on the chopping block."

"Like I said, morbid." Jake teased

"Well I'd put my money on you." I taunted

"Oh please! Sweetheart you and I both know I'd be the one protecting you from the killer, that's just the way it is. I'm your knight in shining armour."

"More like a shit head in skinny jeans."

"Any who... Do you know if your dad went through Nina's laptop?"

"Why? Are your nudes on there?" I laughed

His expression turned to a much more serious one and I almost forgot about our friends sat in the picnic blanket around us, listening in on our conversation. His voice dropped to a whisper.

"No, but the spy-cam network is."

He quickly spun around to face the others, his mood turning to one that was much more positive.
