The quiet hallways had become much more terrifying after discovering the spray paint of the masked killer's face, it felt almost as if you could hear his whispers carried through the air in the hospital, as if he was right there with us, watching us.

Emma and Audrey both walked ahead of me, latching onto each others hands for dear life whilst I trailed behind them, shining my torch behind us into the darkness, I was convinced that we were being followed, but the light from my torch revealed the opposite. No one was there.

"Lydia, could you please turn your phone off? Every time it goes off I have a damn heart attack." Audrey pleaded

"Oh... I didn't even hear it go off."

"Let me guess, it's Jake again?"

"Yeah..." I sighed, turning my phone on silent.

"He really worries about you, doesn't he?"

"Like you wouldn't believe." I chuckled, "but I guess after everything that's happened to this town that everyone's a little on edge."

"Do you like him?" Audrey spoke, her voice echoed across the room.

"What do you think?" Emma answered

-Incoming call from: Shake&Jake 😍

My phone lit up the room as he silent notification of Jake's call flashed across my screen, Emma sighed, obviously seeing the light reflect across the walls.

"What now?"

"He's calling me."

"Answer it, give him an excuse. We don't need to put anyone else in danger."

"Yeah, especially that meathead." Audrey rolled her eyes

I glanced nervously to the dark abyss behind me and then to the lit up corridor ahead of me, preparing myself to lie to Jake, the one person who I could tell the truth.

"Hello?"

"Thank God! Why the hell haven't you been answering your phone?"

"Sorry, it was on vibrate."

"Your phone's always on loud and I know you've been reading my iMessages, if you're gonna ignore them you might as well turn your read recipients off."

"I'm sorry." I sighed

"Are you still with Emma? Is that why you've been ignoring my messages?"

"Yeah! I-I'm sorry... Emma and I are having a girls night tonight to take our minds off of everything that's happened, no boys and no phones, you're lucky she's even letting me answer this call."

"That's a real shame, because you could always sneak me in through the window or you could sneak out whilst she's sleeping, what do you say?"

"I'm gonna have to take a reign-check on that one." I smiled to myself, "But it's definitely a yes, just another time."

"I thought you might say that... Anyways, now that I know you don't need me to protect you, I'll let you get off the phone."

"Thanks Jake, I'll see you tomorrow, alright?"

"I'm good with that. Have fun babe." I smiled to myself after hearing him call me babe.

"Goodnight." I hung up
