I woke up the next morning to the sound of yelling downstairs. It had to be the gang. I layed in the bed for a minute letting the memory of last night rush over me. I couldn't wait to see Jacob today. "Will you guys shut up before you wake up Hayley," I heard Emily yell. I took it as my cue to get up. When I walked downstairs and saw the whole gamg sitting in the kitchen. "Great, you woke her," Emily exclaimed throwing her hands up in the air. They all turned toward me. "Nah, I was up," I lied trying to cut them some slack from Emily. "Ok, would you like something to eat," she asked. I nod in response and take a seat across the table from Jacob. He smiled at me and I tried not to blush.
I looked over at Sam and he was watching us. I quickly stifled the smile and ate my pancakes. The table was barely big enough for all of us. Everyone was talking so my ears were humming from the loudness. Jacob nudged my foot every now and then to get my attention. Then when I'd look up, he'd just be smiling. "Jake, may I speak with you," Sam said silencing everyone. I watched as Jacob and Sam walked into the living room. I looked over at Kim who just shrugged. I was sitting closest to the living room entrance and tried my hardest to eavesdrop. "You need to tell her," Sam said low. "I'm going to," Jacob reassured sheepishly. "I suggest you do it before you get deeper," Sam stated. Was I the "she" they were talking about? I was leaning so far in my seat that I almost fell out of it when Jake and Sam walked back in. They sat back down and everyone talked like nothing had happened. I tried not to stare at Jacob until I felt another nudge of my foot. I glanced up and he slipped something across the table to me. I took it and put it in my pocket.
Everyone was getting done with breakfast and doing their own thing. Some went home, others watched tv, but I went up to my room to change and see what he gave me. I read the note Jacob slipped me. 'Meet me outside' it read. I lowly slipped out of my room and out the front door. I found Jacob leaning against a tree at the edge of the woods. "Hey," I said walking up to him. "Hey," he replied. He seemed nervous and I didn't know why. He took my hand and started moving through the trees. "Jake, where are we going?" I asked trying not to trip over roots in the ground. "I've got to show you something," he said still moving forward. We walked for what seemed like hours. I was getting hit by branches, walking through spiderwebs, and sweating. Let's just say I wasn't having fun.
We finally reached the destination. It was a cliff that overlooked the ocean. It was a beautiful sight. The breeze felt cool against my skin as I looked over the edge carefully. I could see the spot on the beach from last night and water for miles. "Wow this is so pretty," I exclaimed turning toward Jacob who still looked nervous. "Is this what you wanted to show me?" I questioned smiling at him. "Well not only this," he replied smiling weakly. I look at him confused. He took a deep breath and walked closer to me. "Promise not to run," he said staring down at me. I nod in response. He then laid down a pair of clothes on the ground next to me and began backing away. I was so lost to what was going on. Was he going to jump off the cliff like a crazy person into the water? "Remember how we are supposedly descendents of wolves and the spirit warriors," he asked still walking backward until he was a safe distance. "Yeah," I replied staring at him. "Well..." he said with a smirk. Then I heard a loud ripping and before me stood a giant russet wolf. The same one I had seen in the middle of the road when I first got here. It startled me so bad that I fell back on the ground, closer to the edge of the cliff for comfort. I sat there not knowing what to do. I was too shocked to say anything. The wolf...I mean Jacob..... whimpered a little and slowly walked up to me with his head down so he could look in my eyes. "J-j-jacob," I stuttered sitting up a little more. He nodded his head which was sorta funny seeing the wolf do it. He was so close that I could reach out and touch him. I reached my hand out shaking and rubbed his fur. It was so soft and fluffy. "Well I've never had a dog before," I say outloud.
A deep rumble came from Jacob which I guess was a laugh. He took the clothes he had laid down in his mouth and ran into the woods only to return as the Jacob I knew. "I'm sorry if I scared you. I thought you should know what I am," he said sitting down in front of me. "Not scared, more like shocked and intrigued. Can I ask you questions about being a-a wolf?" I reply shyly. "Sure," he says excitedly. His face lit up as I asked multiple questions. He was probably surprised that I wasn't freaking out. I mean, I always wondered if this stuff was out there. We sat there talking for hours. "Yeah and when I'm a wolf, I can hear everyone's thoughts," Jacob said tapping his head. "Whoa awkward," I laughed. I wouldn't want to know half the things Quil thinks about. "Oh and there's one more thing. We impint," he exclaimed turning nervous again. "Imprint," I asked. It's when we find our soulmate. We feel a strong connection to that person and will do anything for them. It can be someone you've known for a long time or someone you just met. It's stronger than just ordinary love. And well...you're my imprint," he stated all in one breath. I stared at him for a minute, letting what he said sink in.
The feelings I have been having toward Jake are the same, even more so, by him. I felt a relief wash over me. Before I could say anything, Jacob sprung up and began pacing. "Oh, I'm sorry. I know this alot to take in and I-" he began but I stopped him by putting a finger to his mouth. I looked up into his eyes and placed my lips to his. My arms found their way around his neck and he picked me up so I could wrap my legs around his torso. The crave was so intense, my body craved more but we eventually pulled apart for the much needed air. "You talk to much," I say with a smile. He laughed and gave me a quick kiss before setting me down. "Let's get back before they think I kidnapped you," Jacob replied taking my hand.
We walked back through the woods back to the house. When we got there, the only people there were Sam and Emily. I walked in ahead of Jacob still holding hands. Sam and Emily were talking intently in the kitchen. When we walked in they stopped. Emily saw that we were holding hands and screamed. "I knew it!" she stated with a amile of satisfaction and gave me a hug. "Yeah," I replied squeezing Jake's hand. We all looked at Sam who remained seated. He looked like he was keeping a secret. "What's wrong Sam?" I asked. Emily went to stand next to Sam and rubbed his back almost encouragingly. "Don't freak out but I called him," he said standing up. "Him who?" I questioned, a little scared for the answer. "Your father." Oh, crap!
