Sparkle woke to the sunlight streaming in through the window of her room. It was a small room, but she loved it. It was painted pink, and had a large balcony that overlooked Canterlot.

She stood and yawned. She walked to her dresser and brushed her wild mane and tail into place. She then sat her new tiara on her head. It was pure gold with a crystal blue heart in the center that matched the heart on her necklace that had finally turned back blue.

She began to smile as she remembered her coronation.

(Flashback)

Sparkle stood in front of the huge crowd that had gathered to watch the student of the princesses finally be crowned. But, Sparkle knew that part of the reason they had came was the tall dark stallion that stood by her.

Samuel smiled at her as she looked at him. It had only been a few days since Tia and Luna had decided to give Samuel another chance, and Sparkle had taken every chance she had to be with him.

Sparkle returned the smile as Tia concluded the ceremony.

"And now, after all you've done for Canterlot, I crown you Princess Sparkle Shimmer of Equestria!" Tia said as she placed the crown I the new princess's head.

At first, the crowd was silent. They had been hesitant to accept Sparkle when she had made 'Shamuel' public, for they were official.

Samuel began to stomp the ground and cheer. The crowd looked at each other, then followed suit. Soon, the entire room was filled with the loud sound of Sparkle's new subjects.

She smiled at Samuel again, in silent thanks. He winked at her, and his returned smile sent butterflies flying through her stomach.

(End of flashback)

Sparkle sighed. Then, there was a rapping at the door to the balcony. She walked over and saw Samuel standing on the balcony. Two Pegasus guards flanked him on either side of him, and Sparkle began to worry. But once she opened the door and stepped outside, Samuel's presence calmed her.

"Hey, Shimmer. Tia and Lu Lu want to talk to us." He said touching his horn to hers.

"Really? What for?" Sparkle asked, smiling up at him.

"Heck if I know. Nobody tells me anything." He said.

Sparkle laughed, and they took off to the thrown room.

Sparkle looked up at the princess. She shook her head confused.

"You want us to do what?" She asked.

Tia looked at Sparkle and Samuel sympathetically.

"Princess Sparkle Shimmer and Samuel the Slasher," She shuddered slightly at his name, "You will travel to the kingdom of Light and Dark. You are to help the subjects there. They have been living self sufficient for many decades now, but a great evil is trying to take over. You will defend them, and defeat the evil."

"But, it's a kingdom of Light and DARK....doesn't that mean there is already evil there?" Samuel asked.

Luna shook her head.

"Just because something is dark, does not mean that it is truly evil. Take me for example. I am a dark pony of the night, but I am not evil." Luna tried to explain.

Sparkle and Samuel nodded, now somewhat understanding.

"When do we leave?" Sparkle asked, tiredly leaning into Samuel who wrapped his wing over her.

"Tomorrow morning." Tia and Luna said together.

So Samuel and Sparkle packed and prepared to go. They were unsure of what to do and how to do it. All they knew was, they were going to do it together.
