Chapter 15

When I got back to the clearing Dan and Phil were sat with drinks at one the tables, Phil saw me running and looked surprised. I had tears of fear streaming down my face.
"Sophie! What's wrong!?" He asked and I collapsed into his hug.
"There's a man" I sobbed, "He was watching us before and he was on the path"
"A man?" Dan asked, "Describe him"
"Tall, dark clothing, I never saw his face properly" I cried, Dan picked me up off Phil and sat ,e gently on his knee and hugged me.
"When did you see him before?" Phil asked.
"At dinner, he was behind the buffet table. I just thought he was lost in thought and happened to be looking at us but he's here, at the end of the path" I cried. Phil ran off down the path I'd just come from.
"Don't worry, its all okay. We'll sort this. The hotel isn't that big, and there's CCTV everywhere. This man will be found" Dan said softly stroking my hair.
"Hey, what happened?" A breathless voice came from behind me. I buried my head in Dan as i didn't want to be seen crying.
"Sophie's been seeing a man lurking around tonight and it's freaking her out" Dan explained.
"A man?" Came a thick, Irish accent.
"Tall, dark clothing, hides his face" He said.
"We haven't seen anyone. We turned left at the split and carried on to the beach" Someone said.
"Where was he?" Dan asked me.
"In the middle of the path where it split left or right" I murmured.
"I've told hotel security and they're checking CCTV cameras right now" Phil's voice came as I felt a weight beside me on the bench.

An hour later, I was laid in bed staring at the ceiling. Dan was sat on his bed on his phone whilst Phil was in the bathroom. Suddenly, Dan gasped at something on his phone and hurriedly went into the bathroom to Phil. I was confused. Maybe it was just something between them, it didn't concern me.

DAN'S POV
I saw an email pop up from the hotel we were staying at and I clicked on it. Probably just some rewards scheme.
Mr Howell- Lester,
We have claimed the CCTV footage from the area where you daughter has reportedly seen a man standing on the path. We have also attached it too this email. Along with it we have attached the CCTV footage from the dining room where she saw the man behind the buffet table. We think you should take a look and contact us further.

I opened the two videos, the video from the dining room loaded first. Sure enough we saw the table with us sat at it, Phil had just sat down. I continued to look at the table and I saw Sophie's face completely change. Even from the distance that the CCTV camera was away from us you could see her face drop. I frantically looked for the man behind the buffet table but there was nobody stood there. Maybe he was cut off frame. I next looked at the footage from the pathway. It loaded with the others and Sophie running from just off the frame to the bottom of the screen. In the middle of the screen, Sophie stops and bends down to tie her laces and then the rest carry on. I looked for the man but nothing appeared. Then Sophie looks up and her eyes widen, and her face drops as it did before. She then runs off back to us. I get up quickly and go to Phil in the bathroom.
"Look at this" I said shoving the phone into his hands. Phil watches the footage then looks back at me confused.
"Why is she seeing this man?" He asked.
"I have no idea but its not good"
