Chapter 7

Sundance's POV

Me and Lin got back to the apartment and Vanessa already had dinner made. I went to the bathroom, washed my hands, and walked out and sat at the table.

Vanessa brought spaghetti. I looked at it and instantly felt sick to my stomach. I put one spoonful on my plate and just picked at it.

"So how was therapy?" Vanessa asked.

"Good." I said with no emotion.

"Then why did the doctor say you didn't talk at all?" Lin asked.

"I did." I said.

"The doctor said that you weren't talking so she told you that you had to talk and when she did she said that you said you were." Lin replied.

"I was talking. With my hands and eyebrows." I said with a lot of sarcasm.

"What?" Lin asked.

"You know. Like sign language." I told.

"Hold up. Hold up. You know sign language?" Vanessa asked really quickly.

"Yeah?" I said with a confused look. "Don't you?"

"No. Why would I know sign language?" Vanessa and Lin said at the same time.

"Because it is easy. And I am shy and have social problems so when I don't feel like talking I sign." I told them.

"Then show us some." Lin said in a matter of fact tone.

I immediately started doing the Lord's Prayer in sign language. When I was done Lin and Vanessa were staring at me wide eyed.

"What? Is there something on my face?" I asked.

"No. No. That was so cool." Lin replied.

"Okay." I said simply.

"Aren't you going to eat?" Vanessa asked.

"No. I'm not hungry. I am just going to go to bed. Good night." I said.

Lin immediately said okay then burst out into So Long Farewell from the Sound of Music. I just laughed and went to bed.

Flashback/dream

I was at the park with my foster family. We were on the swings and my foster dad was pushing me. Suddenly I felt a strong force on my back and I immediately fell face first off the swing.

Some other family saw and immediately called 911. An ambulance showed and took me to the hospital. I had a broken nose and that was the first sign.

I woke up sweaty and couldn't breathe. I grabbed my phone and walked into the bathroom. I called Anthony.

Hello? He asked into the phone very sleepily.

It's Sundance. Can you please come over. I need someone over here with me. I said with panic in my voice still trying to catch my breathe.

Yeah. I will be right over. Try to calm down. He said as he hung up the phone.

Soon after I called Hope.

Hola? She said very sleepily.

Please. Please come over. I need you. I said with panic still trying to catch my breathe.

Coming. She said really fast then hung up.

I walked out to the door and opened when I saw Anthony then Hope showed up a minute later. Anthony went and got me water while me and Hope walked to my room.

"What happened?" Anthony asked.

"I had a nightmare." I said plainly taking a drink of the water.

"About what?" Hope asked.

"The first time." I said walking into the bathroom getting one of my pills.

"Oh okay." Hope said.

"What? What first time? The first time you..." Anthony asked.

"Oh god no. She's never done that. Are you insane." Hope replied quickly.

"Oh okay. I'm sorry." Anthony said embarrassed.

"The first time I saw signs of abuse." I replied quickly.

"Do you want?" Hope asked.

"No. You already. So I don't need to bore you again." I replied then immediately started signing about my feelings. She responded with sign language also.

Anthony looked at us like were crazy and had five eyes. "What the fuuuuu..."

"ANTHONY." We heard Lin yell from the other room.

"Sorry." He yelled back.

"So what the heck are you guys doing." He asked very confused.

I immediately started signing and he just left the room frustrated. We heard the front door close and assumed he left. Me and Hope contributed talking about my dream until we both fell asleep.

Le Time Skip.

I woke up and Hope was still sleeping. I walked downstairs and starting talking to Lin.

"Why are you talking like that?" He asked me.

"What? How am I talking?" I asked.

"You are taking like an old Australian man." He said.

"What? I think you are going insane." I walked back up to my room and just laughed. I knew I was talking like laugh. I woke Hope up and we went and got breakfast.

"Hope. Hope. What were guys talking about last night that caused Anthony to cuss like nobody's business?" Lin asked her.

"Nothing."I responded. I told Lin we were going to the library and we headed out the door. As soon as we walked out my phone buzzed.
