Chapter 21

Sundance's POV

I looked at Lin shocked. I didn't know what to say. I was so scared and excited at the same time. I want to do it but I was nervous about my ankle.

"What about the under study?" I asked.

"She took her vacation this week. Can you please do it? I'm begging you." He pleaded.

"Ok. I'll do it." I told him giving in.

We ran down the steps and they put me on Renee's dress they had to pin in the back because it was a little big. I warmed up with the cast and then I sat in the corner and massaged my foot.

Anthony came over and sat with me. We didn't talk at all. I looked up at him and he looked at me. We stared into each other's eyes and then his eyebrows formed into a questioning look.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing." I said then looked back down.

Lin came over and gave me a hug and then said it was time to start. The show started and I got into the grove. I did the beginning and then I went backstage.

It was finally time for Satisfied and I was getting nervous. My ankle was throbbing and I was nervous about it. I walked onstage for Helpless and then got in place for Satisfied.

The song started and everything was perfect. The transition was happening and I was walking and my ankle rolled under me and I felt it pop. I kept doing the song and when it finished I got off stage quickly. I sat down and watched a few songs until I had to go back on.

I finished the act and then the curtain fell. As soon as it was done I collapsed on the floor. I started to cry and hold my ankle. My cries were covered by the audience talking so no one could hear me.

"OH MY GOD! What happened?" Pippa asked running over.

"My.............ankle." I choked out between sobs.

"LIN! LIN! GET OVER HERE!" Pippa yelled.

"OH MY GOD! What happened?" He asked.

"Just.........call........911." I told him between sobs. "I'll.........explain.........later."

He held my hand as Pippa ran off for a phone. They had to cancel the rest of the show and they told the audience they would give a free show for them. The audience left and after about 30 minutes an ambulance showed up.

The put me on the stretcher and Lin climbed in after me. He told Pippa to call Vanessa and then they shut the doors. He sat on the side while the paramedic tried to talk to me.

"Can you tell me what happened?" The paramedic with red hair asked.

"Yeah. A week or 2 ago I fell down the steps and rolled my ankle. I didn't say anything about it because I thought it was just a little twist. And then I got into a play and started doing all this dancing. It was still hurting so I started to take it easy. And then this night my dad asked me to fill in for someone and as I was walking I felt it pop and now we are here." I told him as fast as I could.

"Ok. Well I think I got most of that. That was a lot. Just lay still until we get to the hospital and then they will take some X-Rays." He told me.

I closed my eyes and just fell asleep.
