Chapter 21

Lucy's POV

People were allegedly spreading rumors about us dating, so Natsu kind of understood the sudden need for space.

I was excited that we solved our little issue but deep inside I knew there was still a problem and that I really did need to keep my distance from Natsu.

We stood in front of the door and awkwardly stared at each other. "I still think we should just be friends." I broke the silence.

"Yeah, we might be getting too old and a little too serious for the whole best of friends phase." Natsu scratched his head.

I couldn't help but wonder what he meant by phase?

"Friends?" He held his hand out to me.

"Friends." I shook his hand. What does that even mean? To be friends?

"Aww, I was hoping for a love triangle this weekend." Levy opened the door.

"Meee too." Mira stood up behind her.

Natsu just giggled and made his way past them and so did I. This obviously doesn't need to be discussed.

When we walked in everyone was gone. We heard voices from the backyard so we followed it.

"Thanks Juvia." Everyone was screaming.

"I was the one who was dared to clean it she just watched!" Gray yelled.

Juvia giggled and noticed me and Natsu walk out.

" Foooooooood! " Mira ran into Natsu.

"I'll take that." She grabbed the boxes of pizza and walked over to the patio.

"You made it back. How'd everything go? " Juvia pulled me aside.

"It went really well actually. We're friends again. No more avoiding each other." I said, happily.

"I knew it. You just needed some time alone." She flashed me a kind smile.

The sun was burning me as a punishment for staying inside all day. "Well it's a nice day out, wanna swim?" I asked Juvia.

" I would love to but I haven't any swimwear." She looked at me sadistically.

" I went shopping earlier and I have an extra pair, come on." I lead her to my room.

Nobody's POV

Gray and Natsu had a swim-off since everyone else was eating and socializing.

Even Carla and happy were having the time of their lives

Lucy dragged in a blue haired girl and some red headed boy.

"Hey everyone, this is Aquarius and Mario." She yelled.

"His name is Scorpio." Aquarius gave her a death glare. Lucy shrieked and hid behind Juvia.

"I came to challenge this little girl to a swim-off" she pointed at Juvia.

"Water is my specialty." Juvia jumped into the pool. I tried to help her back up but she actually swam away.

"Well my friends nicknamed me 'mermaid' because of how natural and smooth I swim. " she jumped in after her splashing my eyes with the water and I fell backwards into the pool.

I was actually expecting to do a back flop in the water but landed on someone. I looked up to apologize they pushed me down again and swam away.

I cleared my eyes and saw that it was Natsu. "Apology accepted." He yelled from the opposite side of the pool.

I tried to swim towards him to slap him but he got out the water. I got out and chased him but the I noticed Juvia and Mira staring at me. " Just friends?" Mira pouted. Juvia giggled and mouthed the word Liar.

God I hate my friends, they can't even be serious at a time like this.

I took a towel and went inside because at least there, the couch will have my back.
