The Park

1 week later...

Soda's POV

So I haven't yet asked Kaylee to be mine or kiss her yet like the others two did, Johnny and Dally. I want to but at the same time I am not sure of she'll like me back. She's asleep right now at her place. Ponyboy's taking Beth to see a sunset later on tonight. They both have a curfew to be back before midnight. Darry and Sid's rules. Sidney wants someone to go with them, but the other two don't want anyone to go. Beth can kick ass, so can Pony and I don't see why they need someone to 'watch' them.

"Soda, better make your move soon" Steve said.

"I know Steve" I said. Dallas, Two-bit and Johnny left earlier to do whatever it is they do when they're not here or with us. Pony's nose is in a book for homework he has to do. Darry's making food for us all as usual. The girls are at their place more often and the socs are to get Kaylee since she slashed their tires and broke their car windows. Most of us are watching out for her. Dallas and Sidney haven't cheated on each other yet like we all thought they would. Camille's with Johnny more too. She ain't as shy, but the other day she did break down when she us looking at the pictures they took the day of the crash. She ran out the door and slept outside in an alley all night. She even got hurt, socs got to her too. But she's okay now and Johnny's okay too, he was

I got up and followed Steve outside. Him and I are going to meet up with Dal, Johnny and Two-bit at the lot. We walked down the street and then once we neared the lot I heard screaming. I assume Stevie heard it too because he turned around and looked and so did I. I saw Kaylee running out of the house and Beth is chasing her down the road. Kaylee passed us and then Beth did too, she had a blade in her hand. It wasn't open but it was still a blade.

"Should we help her? Cuz  I don't fee like helping her" Steve said. Steve and I ran after them and then stopped once Kaylee was on the ground and Beth's on top of her. They're both laughing though, why? Dal, Johnny and Pony came from the other way and stopped in front of us and the girls between us.

"What're you guys doing?" Dal asked.

"Playing a game" Beth replied. Weird game, run around chasing someone with a blade.

"No we're not. She's trying to kill me and scare me with the blade" Kaylee said as Beth was still on her stomach.

"Why?" Two-bit asked.

"She admitted to liking Ponyboy. But didn't want to date him and then hurt him by possibly cheating on him" Kaylee said. Woah, Beth said that? I imagine she would say doesn't want to hurt anyone by doing what she does best.

Dally walked over to Beth and pulled her off Kaylee. Kaylee got up and smirked at Beth because she lost apparently.

"So you guys are here why?" Beth asked.

"Because we came here to hang out like we always do" Johnny said.

"We'll leave then" Kaylee said.

"Beth, Pony wants you to meet at the park later on tonight" I said.

"Okay, I'll be there" She said and they both left back to their house and we all sat down in the grass to talk or fool around like we always do. Elizabeth likes Ponyboy and we all know about it, he doesn't. But I am sure he can get to her and they'll be a thing.

Beth's POV

Later that night...

I got my shoes and headed out the door, Sidney was giving me a lecture of what to do if a soc came and got us. To scream, yell, punch them and try to run once they're down. I left the mad crazy house and made my way to the park. It wasn't cold out and the sun wasn't fully down yet, wonder why he wants me here. Maybe he has something to tell me and only me. At least it's not Kaylee, she'll tell the whole world.

I got to the park and met him there. He was on the monkey bars. I walked over to the monkey bars and climbed up. I walked across the monkey bars and sat next to him on top of them. I have a little feeling what he's gonna do. Tell me he likes me, well lets see who will say it first. Me or him. It's not cold out yet, the sun hasn't gone down yet. I can still see the oranges, reds, pinks and little bit if gold fade into on color, black. I looked at the sky and he sat next to me fiddling around with his fingers. He does that when he gets nervous.

"You don't have to be nervous, I'm here" I said. He looked up and looked at me.

"I know, it's just things" He said. Things? Ya mean love? That thing, that some of the others have. I know he likes me and I may have a crush in him too. I just don't want to hurt him like I do to all the others around here. I just don't, it will break me even more if I hurt him. I could give this a try and if it were meant to be then I would not go and cheat on him. I'll give us try, just like the others did. I could make him happy, knowing he's with the one he loves, me.

"Things that involve you liking me?" I asked, he nodded with a smile. His face kinda told how-did-you-know?

"Yeah" He said. Why don't I start this off for the both of us.

"Want me to help? You like me, I like you. I'll be happy to give us a try." I said and looked at him. He looked up from the ground and smiled. A smile I haven't see before, nice smile that brings out the joy in others.

"You do?" He asked me, I nodded. He came closer to me and hugged me. I hugged him back and he looked down at me. With that he earned a smile from me and I earned a kiss from him. It felt nice to know that this is what it is like to actually love someone and not blow them off. I kissed him back. He smiled and I watched the sunset with him. He put his around my shoulder and I leaned on his chest. I know, I know, y'all probably think I lost my tough side. I didn't, I am just showing my new side that I and the other girls just discovered.

The colors all went away as the sun left us in the darkness of night. I was getting a cold after awhile, so we he. He started to shake a little. I sat up and looked at him. He was asleep on the monkey bars and I have to wake him up before he and I get sick or socs jump us. We have a better chance of socs jumping us right now. Two kids out here in the dark of night.

That also reminds me, Kaylee turns 16 tomorrow. But she wouldn't want to the others to know. She's not one to like celebrating her party, how we use to do it is a fun way. We'd go to the skate park for the whole day and blast our music, skate around, talk and have a great time. Here we have 7 others around us, two friends are gone. Her birthday won't be the same and I won't bring anything up about her birthday to anyone.  I don't want to see her break down again, hurt and crying.

I shook Ponyboy, not violently like I do with the other girls. Just enough to wake him up. He woke up rubbing his eyes and looking around. He looked up and saw the sun and colors left and that it was now black with little white sparkles, stars.

"C'mon, we should head to our places" I said. He nodded and climbed down the monkey bars. I jumped down off the top, scared him a little when I did it. He walked with me back to my place. When I hit my doorstep he left, he said bye and thanks. I said the same and watched him go back. If he got jumped I would be there to help him. He went in his house and I walked into mine. No one's awake, I threw my shoes across the floor, my jacket on the ground and my hat on floor too. I walked down the long hall and turned into the first room. Kaylee didn't go to sleep yet. She's on her phone under the covers, I can see the light shinning from underneath them.

I crawled into bed, didn't get my pjs on. I put my hair in a messy bun and closed my eyes. It was surprisingly cold in the house. I'll probably get a cold, coughing and talking funny. We all will end up like that in the morning. But I will be fine, just a cold. Won't kill me at all or us. I fell asleep with 5 bkankets on top of me and me under all of them.
