Dark Times

Carmen giggled helping Garrett with his tie, she then went back to dressing Michael and then going to Angelo.  He looked down at his vibrating phone, the reminder flashed on his phone. 

"we're running late." he sighed slipping into his church shoes, grabbing the baby bag, and Michael's car seat going to set it up in Carmen's car. He looked down at his watch. 

"fuck" he muttered he didn't want to be late. "Carmen! Come on." 

he went in picking up Michael and pulling Carmen out, with the baby carrier little Angelo releasing a sharp cry from his sleep being disturbed.

Garrett smoothly drove through traffic, surprising not only himself but also Carmen they were able to get through the stop-stop New York traffic.  As they sat at a red light Garrett drummed his thumbs on the steering wheel and looked at Carmen. 

"So, you're very pregnant. again." 

Carmen laughed at his awkwardness rubbing the bump. "Yes, James and I want a very big family. Wanna feel the little peanut roll around." 

Garrett smiled as Carmen placed his hand on her stomach. Carmen giggled when he gasped feeling the slight kick.

He turned into the parking lot of the Cathedral. He ran his hand through his hair going on the back and unbuckling a sleeping Michael pulling him into his arms than grabbing the baby bag.

As they walked into the cathedral a woman who looked the  younger version of jenny smiled.

"Bride or groom?" She asked

"Bride" replied Garrett, then followed in the direction she pointed in the pews.

They sat, Carmen was smiling widely.

Carmen sat and watched Carmen dance with Michael, the smile on his face fell when he saw Layden once again. Layden took the seat at the table in front of him.

"So, I see you're friends with my brother's wife."

"Yeah, I'm her personal trainer." Garrett grumbled slightly rocking Angelo in his arm. "why does it matter, thought you were an only child." 

Layden shook his head, leaning back in his seat. "You know it's no fun bothering someone when they don't react." 

"I know, i'll have you know that I've grown up. I'm no longer that little stupid freshman that couldn't speak English right." Garrett spat putting Angelo in his carrier. "and you need to grow up too, get over it. we don't care about you anymore. Look at Carmen, she's been that happiest in her life in the last year than the few months you and her knew each other." 

Layden sat there silently, he swiped his hand over his jaw. he looked over at Garrett then over to Carmen. He licked his lips before looking at Garrett. He was about to say something when Jenny came running over and pulled garrett into a hug. 

"Oh, Garrett I honestly don't know how to thank you. If it wasn't for you I'd probably never have the confidence to put on this dress and marry the love of my life." she cried as she clung to him.

Garrett sighed the cigarette smoke puffing out. He looked back and could see Carmen with the kids and jenny.

He sighed taking a seat in the curb. Everything that's been happening running through his head.

Lani,

Michael,

His dad,

The job,

Layden,

Samuel.

He could feel the headache forming in his head. Memories from the past pushing their way into his mind.

Austin clouded his mind, Xavier.

He groaned rubbing his temples.
