Chapter 7
Amo Annabeth Magellan. That's what John Hyland told me the day at The Founder's Ball. Charming he was with his brown hair and brown eyes. I remember him as clearly as my first Elvis Presley album. He was the first and last werewolf I would ever date. Don't get me wrong, the Hyland family is very charming, but they're not loyal allies. It all started clearing up tonight at Sandy's Dinner down by Gloomswood Falls.
An old friend of mine was having a party at that dinner. I don't remember his name but I called him The Twin. Anyways, The Twin and his twin sister were having this jive party where we would all just dance together and drink. He had told me that he and his sister had enough power to "convince" Elvis Presley to perform tonight. My how I loved warlocks.
I showed up with an old fashioned red polka dot dress with my red hair in a beehive style. Make-up was dark as always. I brought a friend of mine to dance with me. He was some kid with platinum blond hair and icy blue eyes. He enjoyed to party a lot, which was loads of fun for me because he didn't know whether I being a vampire was real or not. We walked in and saw Jailhouse Rock being played by Elvis.
The boy started to dance with me, along with all the other people in this town. I took the boy by his neck and I sunk my teeth into his skin. His blood tasted like a mix of alcohol and drugs, which made by body tinkle in a way that was unexplainable. Once the first song was over, The Twin's sister came up to me.
Her name was Rebel Tina, and she was the complete opposite of her uptight brother. She had brown hair that was half-up, and she wore an orange dress that reminded me of Jackie Kennedy. She had white booties on and wore very little make-up. Rebel Tina was accompanied by some werewolf, but they were always star-crossed to begin with. That wasn't important. I smiled at Rebel Tina and my date wrapped his arm around me.
"I knew you'd make it!" Rebel Tina smirked and sipped her drink.
"Why would I miss the first big shindig from the famous Blanchard twins?" I said with a smile. Rebel Tina and The Twin were new to New York, so they threw this big rendezvous to get to know everyone. "My oh my, don't you look like a feministic witch tonight!"
"Well it is 1963 after all."
I laughed and smiled. "Where's your uptight brother?"
"He's getting to know the special people here if you get what I mean." Rebel Tina and her date laughed. I knew what they were laughing about, but that's a secret I'll never tell.
"Ms. Magellan?" The Twin called out to me. "Mr. Hyland wants to speak with you?" I looked over at him and saw him wearing large glasses and a suit not made to be at a party like where I was. I looked ahead and saw a familiar shadow stare at me.
"Can't he see I'm in the middle of something?" I asked him with aggravation in my voice. Could have picked any other inopportune moment to speak with me?
"He says it's urgent," The Twin told me with his brown eyes as serious as his over greased brown hair. He was a dull dishrag to be around.
I rolled my eyes as I looked at my snack. "You'll forget this little bite fest. We danced, drank, and ate the night away. Don't dance with anyone else but me." I stared coldly into my date's eyes and saw his blue eyes freeze into place. Compulsion was the best thing ever created. I touched his shoulder as I walked towards John Hyland.
From the door of the diner, John stood with his arms crossed over his greased black t-shirt. His chiseled face did not look happy with me at all. I walked over and stood in front of John. His brown eyes stared coldly at me while I stared coldly back at him with my emerald eyes. What did he want with me? I gave him everything he needed to survive that damn council's ambush, what was he still stalking me.
