Chapter 14

The dark skies gleamed over the restaurant. The skies were clear, but filled with yellow lights of the town streets and posters. The air was brisk and chilly, indicating that fall was coming closer. The restaurant was two floors with grey brick and grey flooring. Outside was valet parking, along with people who take coats. The whole entire restaurant looked beautiful. It was the one of the fanciest one in town.

Maddie waited outside the restaurant with her father and her future step-monster. Maddie had her hair up in a ponytail with her eye makeup perfect, along with her contour and face makeup. She wore a short, slim, black dress with thin straps and stilettos. She didn't bother bringing a sweater because she didn't think it would get cold in July. She stood against the wall, greeting her family members as they walked inside to eat. She didn't pay mind to them because she was waiting for Holbrook to come.

After a lot of convincing, Maddie finally convinced Luke to go along with her plan. It was tough, but after practically begging him for hours, he relented and decided to go. Maddie wanted him to come with her tonight, but Cole was her main priority. She had to find out his problem, and then she had to destroy him. Luke had promised to call her to update her, but Maddie had not heard anything from him. That's what made her annoyed.

Maddie waited on her phone, but was soon yelled at by her father to put it away since it wasn't lady like. She turned her phone off and rolled her eyes. She heard him praise Pride for being a lady, making Pride give her the evil eye. Bitch, she thought. She waved at Robert and Meredith Lancaster but soon stopped when she saw a familiar figure walk by. It was Mason wearing a tux.

Maddie walked away from the wall and walked towards her brother. Her flesh and blood finally decided to come out of hibernation and associate himself with society. Hmm, interesting. She felt the emotion of punching him in the face for leaving her alone with their messed-up family. Instead, she hugged him and he hugged her back. Mason was gone for weeks and he finally decided to come back. She had no idea where he went, but obviously, he was alright if he showed up tonight. She was about to ask him where he went, but he just walked away from her, staring at their father the whole time.

Maddie walked towards the sidewalk and saw Holbrook walking in the restaurant with Jessie and Rowan. Tyler didn't look surprised to see that Holbrook had a daughter, but then again, they went to high school together. At least Holbrook finally told Jessie about Rowan. She was holding Rowan's hand like she was one of her own.

Tyler motioned Maddie to come forward as he motioned the rest of them to go in the restaurant. He let Paul and their seven-year old little sister, Elizabeth, walk in the restaurant, holding hands. Paul was wearing a tux and Elizabeth was wearing a blue dress, along with her brown hair tied up in a bun Maddie had put up herself. Tyler then walked in with his fiancé, along with Pride. Maddie walked towards the door but stopped once she saw Alex walking alone.

Maddie approached him and saw Cat was nowhere to be found. "No Kitty Cat?" Maddie teased.

"She had to watch over her gerbil," Alex told her. Maddie stared at him weirdly. Cat passed up a night out just to watch over a rodent, but Maddie was weirdly not surprised by that.

"Where's Luke?" Alex asked her. "Is he playing Hide and Seek?"

"Alex, we all know you still play that game," Maddie reminded him with annoyance. "And you still lose to Lizzie every single time."

"I swear to God I will find a spot where that child will not find me!" Alex stared up at the sky and waved his fist in the air with vengeance. Maddie groaned. He was so ridiculous, but it was better than him questioning her. "So where is Mr. Hero at?"
