The Payne Family

Chapter 5.

"Think?"I ask,"No,no, we WILL find them."I say and continue walking, I couldn't imagine loosing my kids. Like when I went on tour which was like 4 or 5 months ago(cause it's 2016 in the story) I couldn't bare to leave Lucas and Kate for only 3 months. Dani and I stayed silent as we searched around the town.

"Wait, do you...smell that?"Dani asks as she covers her nose.

I cocked my head to the side and sniffed the air, it was smoke.

"It's coming from that building!"Danielle points, I turned around and saw a lot of people surrounding an apartment. Maybe the kids are in there! I race towards the building with Danielle struggling to keep up, I push open the doors and quickly get in, I race up the stairs across the hallways which lead to another staircase. I finally get to..perhaps the 6th or 7th for until I hear crying from a room down the hall, I kick the door as hard as I can but it doesn't open. It takes about 3 tries until the door finally breaks. I see Lucas trying to carry Kate and Darcy at the same time, James trying his best to pull Ashley, Anthony's foot was stuck under the couch, Veronica was trying to help, and Adrian trying hard to breathe. Niall has asthma so you know..it passes onto Adrian.

**Dani' s pov**

I couldn't go inside, people were blocking the entrance. Out of nowhere, Louis, Zayn, Harry and Niall came running towards me.

"Where's Liam?"Zayn asks out of breath, I point inside and they push past the crowd.

"I hope they're safe.."Abby whispers.

"They will be."Tara reassures her.

**Louis 's pov**

The guys and I race down the hallways and up the staircase, it was getting hotter and smoke was filling the air.

"Niall lad, you okay?"Harry asks as Niall was coughing.

"Yeah."Niall nods, we reached a floor were it was bursting.

"Liam?!"Zayn and I call out.

"Over here, I found the kids!!"Liam shouts from down the hall, we run towards the room and see Liam trying to lift the couch off Anthony, Zayn runs over and helps. The twins cling onto Zayn, Harry was holding Darcy and Ashley, Niall was giving Adrian his inhaler, James was wrapping his arms tightly around me, and Liam quickly went over to his children. The fire was getting bigger and hotter.

**Liam' s pov**

I quickly grabbed Lucas and Kate and held them tightly, they were trying hard to breathe. We were about to step out the fired room but flames bursted upon us, there was a knock on the window and Zayn opened it.

"Hurry pass the kids!"the firefighter demands, we quickly give him 2 kids at a time, next was our turn to climb down the ladder. I've always had insecurities about ladders, they're so wobbly and could break or slip any minute..

"Liam, come on!"Louis commands, I take a deep breath and put a foot out and slowly climb down. Don't look down..or up either, don't wanna see Louis' s bum.

Our faces were covered as if we're wearing grey face paint, we smelled like smoke which is unpleasant, and every time we coughed, a sharp pain would shoot through my chest.

"Lay down, I'll give the kids a bath."Danielle coaxes as she kisses my cheek, I nod and slowly lay down on the couch. I arch my back a bit from all the stress and let out a low groan.

"Are you okay daddy?"Kate asks from the floor as she colors.

"Yeah baby, just tired."I reply, I rub my shoulder hoping that the pain(lol Payne, and pain. No?) would go away, but it didn't.

"Okay."Kate hums switching crayons. I heard the shower getting turned on and sighed, that was the most terrifying moment of my life.
