This chapter will be in the past and it will follow Emma and Kaden

---------(five years old)---------

"Hey! Emma! Wake up!" A small young voice yelled, clearly male from the side of Emma's bed. The sound echoed off the walls of the small child's bedroom. Emma was fast asleep, in her small child's bed with pink covers and white framing. The bed fit well in her four-year-old room as it matched the color of the walls and did not take up to much space.

After the older boy call for her again she slowly opened her eyes to see Kaden. A boy that was a few years older than she. He had blond hair and light blue eyes. He was her best friend and the future alpha of the northern herd. He was always kind to her and played with her every day without fail. In Emma's eyes, he was going to be a great leader but sadly his father disagreed.

Ever since she and her brother, Caleb where drop off here they were mostly greeted with kind smiles and happy gestures. Tho, it was under the worst circumstances. Emma was only two at the time and Caleb was four.

One of the deer in their herd worked with orphans and children that have been taken away from there unfit parents. Her name was Maria. She looked after Emma and her brother until she decided to adopt both children.

Maria was the daughter of the beta. She had been begging for years to have her own orphanage here in the herd and only got the 'ok' a year before Emma showed up. The alpha let the two orphans stay in the herd house because of Maria's attachment to the pair.

"Come on Emma." Kaden tugged at her shirt, fully waking her up.

"Ok." She yawned and pulled her covers off, that fell to the floor not soon after.

"O, come on." Kaden impatiently scooped Emma up in his arms. Tho, he was only six he was very strong and trained a lot with his father's beta. He wanted to be strong so when he becomes the herd's leader he can protect them and Emma.

"Kaden," she said as she yawned loudly. "I ca..." Emma drifted off as Kaden swayed her while he walked. She felt him moving but she didn't open her eye. The sound of his footsteps bounced off the walls of the long, somber hallway.

The creaked of the door alerted her that they were entering another room before she was placed on something very comfortable. When she opened her eyes she knew was laying on the alpha's couch, that was placed in his work office. Her head was on Kaden lap as he stroked her hair with his small hands.

"What do you want Kaden?" Kaden's father said unpleasant with his son presents.

Emma knew why she was here because Kaden always asked her to come with him. She knew that Kaden wanted her to come with him so he could tell his father something. He needed her there for support. Kaden was very afraid of his father. He was a mean and vicious man. She was his lifeline.

Kaden was tense as he stroked Emma's hair gently, trying not to get it tangled and cause her pain. At this point, she was fake sleeping because she kind of scared of the Alpha just as much as Kaden was. He took a deep breath, ready to face his father and tell him the yearning question he had burning the back of his throat.

"Please give me the alpha title when I get older." He shouted running on adrenalin. "I am your son and I should get the title!" Kaden said in a semi-confident voice. Emma's heard footsteps and then a loud slap, that you could hear ring throughout the room.

"You know that you will not get the title until you can prove yourself worthy!" His father said in an angry voice.

Emma felt wet teardrops hit her face as the young boy silently cried. They rolled down her face making her feel his pain. Her eyes burn with pity and sadness as one of her own tears slipped out.
